Why World Biofuel Day is Celebrated?
World Biofuel Day is an annual celebration that commemorates the historic milestone of German inventor Sir Rudolf Diesel successfully operating his diesel engine with peanut oil on August 10, 1893. This groundbreaking achievement marked a pivotal turning point in the quest for alternative, renewable, and sustainable fuel sources beyond traditional fossil fuels. Diesel’s invention showcased the immense potential of biofuels – fuels derived from organic matter such as plant materials and animal waste – to power engines and vehicles in a more environmentally friendly manner.
