Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that the importance of electricity is equivalent to life in the body. Just as life is essential for the functioning of all activities, adequate electricity availability is essential for the progress and development of any state. Agreements signed to generate 4,000 MW of electricity in the state at a cost of ₹60,000 crore will form the basis for the state’s sustainable development. This will increase the state’s overall power availability and ensure 100% supply of electricity demand. These new power plants, to be established on a design, build, finance, own, and operate (DBFOO) model, will provide direct and indirect employment to approximately 8,000 people. A power supply agreement for 4,000 MW of electricity was signed on Tuesday at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s residence) in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Neeraj Mandloi provided information regarding the contract. Energy Minister Mr. Pradyuman Singh Tomar was also present.

In the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, a power supply agreement was exchanged between Mr. Vishes Gadpale, Managing Director of MP Power Management Company, Mr. Jigish Mehta of Torrent Power Limited, Mr. S.B. Khilaya of Adani Power Limited, and Mr. Ratul Puri of Hindustan Thermal Projects. This new powerhouse will be located in Anuppur. At the beginning of the program, representatives of the industry group greeted Chief Minister Dr. Yadav with a bouquet of flowers.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that as a result of industry-friendly policies, strong infrastructure, and good governance, Madhya Pradesh is becoming a top priority for investors and industrial groups from both India and abroad. Power generation requires better coordination of land, water, environment, coal, and railway lines. Madhya Pradesh is suitable on all these grounds. The state has also achieved significant achievements in the field of renewable energy. The PM Mitra Park, established in the state on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will provide new dimensions of development and abundant employment opportunities. It has been decided to celebrate the year 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year in the state. This will encourage entrepreneurship, self-employment, and food processing activities. The state government is giving special importance to employment-oriented industries. There is ample potential for expanding the activities of industrial groups in the state.
The MP Power Management Company invited bids for the purchase of 3,200 MW of power from new power plants to be established in the state through a tariff-based competitive bidding process under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) agreement. This included an option to purchase an additional 800 MW under the greenshoe option. Accordingly, 800 MW of capacity has been allocated to M/s Hindustan Thermal Projects Limited, 1,600 MW to M/s Torrent Power Limited, 800 MW to M/s Adani Power Limited, and an additional 800 MW under the greenshoe option. Investments of ₹24,000 crore (24,000 crore) by Torrent, ₹24,000 crore (24,000 crore) by Adani Power, and ₹12,000 crore (12,000 crore) by Hindustan Thermal. Power supply contracts for all these capacities have been signed with special purpose vehicles (SPVs) formed by the selected developers. These power supply contracts are expected to begin in 2030.
