The list of students selected in the second phase of the process of giving free admission to children in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in the state of Chhattisgarh has been released. In this phase, 42,362 fully approved applications were received from 6,953 private schools across the state, out of which 10,478 students were selected on the basis of eligibility for 16,967 seats.
According to the data released, Raipur district received the highest number of 6,559 fully approved applications from 861 private schools, out of which 750 children were selected. In Bilaspur, 972 children were selected in 565 schools, while 667 children were selected for admission in 538 schools of Durg district. Surajpur district has the highest number of 1,036 children selected. Whereas, 837 children in Janjgir-Champa, 753 in Mungeli, 504 in Korba, 300 in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 259 in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, 324 in Sakti, 95 in Raigarh, 246 in Mahasamund, 461 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 159 in Dhamtari, 65 in Gariaband, 321 in Kawardha, 137 children in Rajnandgaon have been selected for free education under the Right to Education. Similarly, 213 children were selected in Bemetara, 156 in Balod, 73 in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, 36 in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki, 276 in Surguja, 279 in Jashpur, 183 in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, 116 in Korea, 671 in Balrampur and 104 children were selected in Kanker. Selections have also been made in remote tribal areas, in which 165 children were selected in Bastar, 11 from Narayanpur, 127 in Kondagaon, 97 in Bijapur, 45 from Dantewada and 31 children from Sukma were selected under the Right to Education.
It is noteworthy that under the Right to Education Act, children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections are given admission on reserved seats in private schools, so that they can get equal opportunity to get quality free education.
