- Skills displayed in 12 sports in junior and senior categories, winning players will shine in divisional level competitions
A total of 10,577 players from all the 6 districts of the division displayed their strength and sporting skills in the district level competitions of Surguja Olympics being held for the first time in Chhattisgarh. The winning players of the competitions held at the development block level under Surguja Olympics participated with full enthusiasm, zeal and passion in the district level competitions held in their respective district headquarters. These were organised in all the district headquarters of Surguja division on different dates between 5 February and 13 February.

In the district level events of Surguja Olympics, 10 thousand 577 players displayed their sporting talent in 12 sports. These included 510 from Korea district, 3126 from Jashpur, 706 from Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, 1797 from Surguja, 2424 from Balrampur-Ramanujganj and 2014 from Surajpur district. The winners of the district level competitions will now shine in the division level event. The division level winners of Surguja Olympics will be given direct admission in the sports academies run in the state by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. Along with this, they will also be declared youth icons. These youth icons will inspire children and youth to join sports.

In the district level events of Surguja Olympics, players participated in 5 individual and 7 team games. Individual events included athletics (100, 200, 400 meter race, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, 400 meter relay), archery (Indian round), badminton, wrestling and karate. Team games included football, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, tug of war and basketball. All the competitions were held in junior category (14 to 17 years, boys/girls) and senior category (above 18 years, men/women).

A total of 349,370 players from all 32 development blocks of the Surguja division registered to participate in the block-level competitions in the first phase of the Surguja Olympics. These included 159,712 male and 189,658 female players.
