Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh Rajya Van Vikas Nigam accepted the challenge of developing forests on ash mountains formed in the process of mining activities and electricity production in state, and restored forest wealth. Rehabilitating forests in three lakh fifteen thousand hectares is a big achievement. Van Vikas Nigam deserves Praise for this achievement. It is a matter of pride that other states are also eager to take advantage of the Nigam’s expertise. Proper management of forests is being done in the state through updated technology. As a result, the state is the best in the country in terms of forest wealth. The state government is also making every possible effort in the direction of conservation of forests, forest produce, and wildlife. Forest service officers and employees are worthy of praise for protection and better management of dense forest areas of the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the inaugural session of the national workshop organised at the Indian Institute of Forest Management on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the establishment of Rajya Van Vikas Nigam.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, opportunities for capacity building and progress are available in all directions. As a result, special initiatives are being taken in the direction of wildlife conservation in the state. The state government is also working towards establishing zoos and wildlife rescue centres. CM Dr. Yadav said that there is a need for brainstorming on the management of forests developed by the Rajya Van Vikas Nigam and its upcoming action plan. While reviewing the work done so far, the state government is ready to take special innovations and initiatives in the direction of forest development and environmental protection.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav suggested conducting eco-tourism activities at centres of Van Vikas Nigam. He said that Jodhpur in Rajasthan has established itself as a major centre of furniture based on mango and babool wood. Madhya Pradesh can also take such an initiative using the available teak and other high-quality timber.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it is a matter of pride that Madhya Pradesh is the source of rivers. The forests of the state enrich many major rivers of the country with water. The forest-based lifestyle spread across the vast land area of the state gives us the opportunity to live with nature. The highest number of tigers in the country are in Madhya Pradesh. Gharials in the Chambal region are also enhancing the beauty of wildlife tourism. The forest department, while conserving the endangered vultures, has given new life to them in the state. The state government is working on schemes to reduce deaths caused by snakebite. Preparations are underway for snake census in the state. Madhya Pradesh is such a region where tigers and humans live together in a spirit of coexistence.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the programme by lighting lamp. He honoured officers and employees who did excellent work in Van Vikas Nigam. Among them, Shri R.K. Namdev, R.S. Negi, Ratan Purwar, P.C. Tamrakar, and Bhagwantrao Bohrpi were honoured. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav unveiled the Vision-2047 focused on the upcoming action plan for forest development on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of the Nigam. On this occasion, a short film focused on activities of Van Vikas Nigam and its development journey was also screened. Director of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Shri K. Ravichandran, greeted Chief Minister Dr. Yadav by presenting an angavastram and an idol of Lord Shri Krishna.

Minister of State for Forests Shri Dilip Ahirwar said that Van Vikas Nigam is operating forest conservation activities by connecting local people. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, many innovations are being implemented in the state. Under this, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign has been launched to enrich the state with forest wealth. The Jal-Ganga Samvardhan campaign has been run for water conservation in the state. Under this, many wells, ponds, and water sources have been renovated in the state. Jal-Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan is a big initiative in the field of improving the groundwater level. The role of Rajya Van Vikas Nigam is important in all fields.

Additional Chief Secretary Forest Shri Ashok Barnwal said that based on the recommendations of the National Agricultural Commission, the Rajya Van Vikas Nigam, established in 1975, has remained continuously profitable since its inception. The activities of the Nigam, committed to environmental and economic development, are improving not only forests but also people’s lives. Celebrating the 50th Foundation Day of the Van Vikas Nigam is a matter of pride for all of us. With the cooperation of Van Vikas Nigam, 3 lakh 90 thousand hectares of forests have been developed and treated. In this achievement, the contribution of Nigam’s officers and employees is significant.

The event was attended in large numbers by officers and employees of the forest department, representatives of institutions working in the field of forests and forestry, and students of the Indian Institute of Forest Management.
