- Insurance claim of Rs 24,000 received for wheat crop damage due to natural calamity
Agriculture is completely dependent on nature, and weather vagaries often ruin years of hard work for farmers. In these difficult times, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is proving to be a financial security blanket for farmers. The story of Ajmer Singh, a farmer from the village of Pasuri in the Manendragarh development block of the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, clearly demonstrates the utility of this scheme.
Ajmer Singh had sown wheat on approximately 4 acres of his agricultural land. Along with farming, he demonstrated foresight and insured his crop under the PMFBY. His wheat crop suffered severe damage due to natural causes before it was ready, causing him financial difficulties.
After the crop failure, he submitted an insurance claim under the PMFBY as per the prescribed procedures. After the claim was verified by the relevant authorities, the insurance company approved and provided him with an assistance amount of ₹24,000. This amount proved to be a financial boost for him and provided significant assistance in compensating for his farming losses.
Ajmer Singh explains that if he hadn’t insured his crop, it would have been extremely difficult to recover the losses. He says that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) serves as a strong safeguard for farmers in difficult circumstances. The financial assistance provided through the scheme gives farmers the confidence to resume farming and helps them overcome adverse circumstances.
He appealed to all farmers in the district to insure their crops on time under the PMFBY so that they can benefit from the scheme and avoid facing financial hardship in the event of crop loss due to natural disasters, excessive rainfall, drought, hailstorms, or other causes.
Ajmer Singh expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this ambitious scheme implemented in the interest of farmers. He also thanked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for his farmer-friendly efforts and the work being done for the development of the agricultural sector.
