The 41st annual conference of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held in Visakhapatnam discussed in detail the possibilities and future direction of Chhattisgarh’s tourism development. It was an opportunity to showcase Chhattisgarh’s diverse tourism potential to the representatives of tourism departments, tour operators and tourism industry from across the country. Along with the impressive presentation of the state’s tourism potential during the conference, Chhattisgarh was also awarded the prestigious honour of ‘Best Emerging Tourist Destination’.

The four-day conference, held from September 10th to 13th at Novotel Varun Beach in Visakhapatnam, focused on the theme “India—the next big hub of global tourism opportunities.” The conference deliberated on various topics related to taking tourism to new heights, developing new destinations, and promoting the tourism business. Chhattisgarh effectively showcased its tourism diversity and potential on this national platform, highlighting its growing presence on the country’s tourism map.

  • Vision of tourism development gets national platform

In various sessions of the conference, the direction of Chhattisgarh’s tourism development, the state’s specialties, and the tourism opportunities available here were highlighted. Chhattisgarh’s diverse identity, from natural beauty to history, religion, culture, and tribal life, was highlighted as important from a tourism perspective. The state’s tourism assets were presented to travel agents and tour operators from across the country through an impressive video presentation. The presentation showcased Chhattisgarh’s natural beauty, tribal culture, wildlife, waterfalls, archaeological heritage, and adventure tourism destinations.

During the presentation, travel agents and tour operators from across the country were invited to include Chhattisgarh in their new travel itineraries and promote it as an emerging tourist destination. The Tourism Board also shared information about tourism development initiatives and new tourism opportunities in the state. Discussions also focused on promoting the state’s tourism to national and international tourists, developing new tourist destinations, and promoting employment and economic activities by connecting local communities with tourism.

  • Tourism representatives from across the country, including the Union Minister, participated

The conference was attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Shri Kandula Durgesh, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh Shri Shamsher Singh Rawat and several key representatives from the tourism and travel industry.

Mr. Neelu Sharma, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, also participated in the conference. During a discussion on various tourism-related topics, he highlighted the state’s tourism potential at the national level. Mr. Neelu Sharma was also honored during the conference.

Chhattisgarh’s tourism identity isn’t limited to its natural beauty. The state offers a remarkable blend of history, spirituality, culture, and tribal life with nature. The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board pavilion witnessed significant interest from the travel trade during the conference. A large number of travel agents and tour operators visited the pavilion and held B2B meetings with registered stakeholders and tourism representatives, discussing the state’s tourism packages, destinations, and itineraries in detail. These meetings provided tourism representatives with the opportunity to explore new partnership opportunities, share information about tourist destinations, and consider new plans to attract tourists.

The India Tourism Fair was held alongside the conference on September 11th and 12th. It hosted face-to-face business meetings and outreach programs between state tourism departments, travel operators, and tourism trade representatives. The event provided an important platform to strengthen dialogue between state tourism representatives and the travel trade and to explore new tourism business opportunities.
