To propagate the spirit of service, dedication, good governance, and public participation among the masses, the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ (Lamp of Blessings) program will be grandly organized in Mahasamund district on September 17 under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service and Resolve Campaign). On this occasion, approximately 6 lakh lamps will be lit across the district to express a collective resolve towards service, good governance, and public welfare. Dedicated to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey of public service, this event will take the form of a massive celebration of public participation in the district.
The main event will take place at Atal Parisar, Mahasamund, where the premises will be illuminated with around 8,000 lamps. Simultaneously, lamps will be lit collectively at key temples, intersections, Gram Panchayats, government offices, Panchayat buildings, PDS buildings, Amrit Sarovars, rural markets, and other public places across the district. The district administration has appealed to residents to participate in this mass campaign by lighting a lamp in every home.
- Key District Locations to Shine Simultaneously
Under the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ program, the collective glow of service and resolve will be visible across Mahasamund district on the evening of September 17. Time-bound preparations have been ensured for the event. Arrangements regarding decoration, seating, and sound and light systems will be completed at various designated locations between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Following this, preparations for the lamp lighting and Rangoli displays will take place between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
Anganwadi workers, members of women’s self-help groups, public representatives, and general citizens will participate in the event. At 7 PM, a mass lamp-lighting event will take place simultaneously across the district—including the district headquarters, designated urban intersections, Gram Panchayats, government offices, and neighborhoods. Illuminated by thousands of lamps, Mahasamund will convey a message of service, resolve, good governance, and public participation.
- Over 5.51 Lakh Lamps to be Lit in Rural Areas
To ensure widespread public participation, a target has been set to light more than 5.51 lakh lamps in rural areas. Lamps will be lit at government establishments, houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, Amrit Sarovar sites, Panchayat buildings, PDS centers, and other public locations.
Block-wise targets for lighting lamps have also been determined. Approximately 1.05 lakh lamps will be lit in Mahasamund, 1.02 lakh in Basna, 1.26 lakh in Pithora, 1.11 lakh in Bagbahara, and 1.07 lakh in Saraipali. Thus, the light of service and resolve will spread through approximately 5.51 lakh lamps in rural areas alone.
Meanwhile, in urban areas—specifically Basna, Pithora, Tumgaon, and Saraipali—a target has been set to light around 20,000 lamps. Initially, approximately 5.83 lakh lamps will be lit across the district. The goal is to increase this figure to around 6 lakh lamps through public participation.
- Task Force and Nodal Officers Take Charge of Preparations
Ms. Anupama Anand, the Officer-in-Charge Collector and CEO of the District Panchayat, held a meeting with the task force and all nodal officers to conduct a detailed review of the event preparations. She instructed the officials to ensure better coordination among departments and to complete all necessary preparations by September 16.
Emphasizing the importance of making the event a success through broad public participation, the Officer-in-Charge Collector directed that involvement from every region and section of society within the district be ensured. She instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of arrangements—including the placement of lamps (diyas), lighting, decorations, rangoli designs, and seating—at the designated locations.
- The ‘Lamp of Blessing’ to Illuminate the Message of Service and Resolve
The objective of the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ (Lamp of Blessing) program extends beyond the mere lighting of lamps; it aims to convey a collective commitment to service, dedication, good governance, and public welfare to every citizen. Lamps lit simultaneously across various parts of the district will symbolize social solidarity and the spirit of public participation.
The campaign will gain significant momentum through the participation of Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, villagers, urban residents, public representatives, and various social groups. Ordinary citizens will also be able to directly connect with this campaign by lighting lamps at their homes and business establishments, alongside public spaces.
- In-charge Collector Calls for ‘One Lamp in Every Home’
In-charge Collector and District Panchayat CEO Ms. Anupama Anand has appealed to the district’s residents to light at least one lamp at their homes, business establishments, and nearby public spaces on September 17, thereby ensuring their participation in the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ campaign.
She stated that every lamp lit through public participation would strengthen the resolve for service and good governance. The combined glow of lamps from lakhs of homes and public spaces across the district will send a powerful message of collective service, public engagement, and positive resolve in Mahasamund.
Thus, on September 17, Mahasamund district will shine with the light of approximately 6 lakh lamps, embodying the spirit of the service-resolve campaign, and the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ will establish itself as a memorable celebration of public participation.
