Chhattisgarh actively participated in the 10th World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2026) held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. A state team, led by Shri Sonmoni Borah, Principal Secretary of the Urban Administration and Development Department, attended the forum and engaged in discussions with global experts regarding the circular economy, resource efficiency, and modern solutions for transforming waste into resources. Shri Sumeet Agrawal, CEO of the State Urban Development Agency, is also part of the delegation.
Shri Borah, the head of the state team, stated that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to promoting sustainable waste management, optimal resource utilization, and the concept of a circular economy in urban areas. The state aims to transform waste into useful resources through better management driven by innovation and modern technologies. This initiative will accelerate the creation of clean, robust, and sustainable cities while bolstering environmental conservation and strengthening the state’s efforts toward a ‘Developed Chhattisgarh.’
The forum brought together policymakers, industry experts, institutions developing innovative technologies, and specialists working in the field from various countries. Comprehensive discussions were held on topics such as promoting the circular economy, optimizing resource use, sustainable production and consumption, and waste-to-resource strategies.
- State Team Visits Exhibition Centers
The Chhattisgarh delegation also visited the exhibition centers at the forum. These centers showcased innovative technologies and solutions related to recycling, resource recovery, the creation of useful products from waste, sustainable materials, and circular business models.
