- Information Provided on Health, Hygiene, and Government Welfare Schemes
A special ‘Angan Milan Seva’ program was organized by the Department of Women and Child Development in Surajpur district, Chhattisgarh, from September 25 to October 6. Through these events held at various Anganwadi centers across the district, women, children, and their families were provided with detailed information regarding health, nutrition, hygiene, and government welfare schemes. The active participation of villagers in these programs has given a fresh boost to nutrition awareness and community cooperation at the Anganwadi centers.
- Exhibition of Nutritious Meals and Dishes
During the events, information regarding balanced diets and the proper use of locally available food items was disseminated through exhibitions showcasing ‘My Nutritious Plate’ and various nutritious dishes. Beneficiaries of the ‘Mahtari Vandan Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’ were engaged in various activities, and eligible women were encouraged to avail the benefits of these schemes.
- ‘Har Ghar Munga’ (Drumstick in Every Home) Campaign
Emphasis was placed on diversifying the daily diet of children and incorporating local, nutritious food items. Under this initiative, the ‘Har Ghar Munga’ campaign was launched to encourage families to plant drumstick trees and include the vegetable in their meals.
- Community Participation
Anganwadi workers, helpers, and Mitanins played a highly active role in making these events a success. Women and children participated enthusiastically in various activities and conveyed important messages regarding health and nutrition to their families and communities. The primary objective of this special event was to raise awareness about Anganwadi services, connect families with proper child care and nutrition practices, and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the general public.
