Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao reviewed the progress of development works and implementation of schemes.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw held a joint meeting of the officials of Surguja and Surajpur districts at Surguja divisional headquarters Ambikapur and conducted a detailed review of the works of Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Urban Administration and Development Department and Sports and Youth Welfare Department. In the meeting, he took information about the progress of development works, implementation of schemes and the status of works being done at the departmental level. Surguja Collector Shri Ajit Vasant, Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Rajesh Agarwal and Surajpur Collector Smt. Rena Jameel were also present in the meeting.

  • Special emphasis on timely implementation of schemes, instructions to give priority to works of public interest

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao asked officials from all four departments to regularly review the progress of projects and development works. He directed them to complete approved projects within the stipulated timeframe. He directed them to ensure no compromise on quality in development works and to ensure continuous monitoring of the works. He also stressed the need to accelerate development works by establishing better coordination between departments. He said that the true objective of development works is to provide better facilities to citizens, therefore, officials should give top priority to transparency, quality, and timeliness in the implementation of schemes. He asked officials to improve the organization of their offices and maintain good cleanliness. The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the direct benefits of government schemes and development works reach the common citizens. Officials should understand their responsibility and discharge their duties seriously. 

  • Under-construction PM houses asked to be completed by October

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw reviewed the progress of various development projects and schemes being implemented in urban areas. He directed officials to effectively monitor schemes run by urban bodies and prioritize public welfare projects. He said that our cities shape the image of our state and the reputation of our districts. Therefore, improve the city’s infrastructure and pay special attention to cleanliness. 

He told the officials that work should start immediately after the tender process is over, ongoing works should be completed soon, special attention should be paid to quality and their responsibilities should be discharged seriously. He said that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) is a priority work, therefore all CMOs should complete the ongoing construction works by the month of October. He gave instructions to review the revenue collection work every month. In the meeting, he reviewed various works including Mukhyamantri Nagarothan Yojana, works under infrastructure head, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), 15th Finance Commission, Rain Water Harvesting and gave necessary guidelines. 

  • Speed ​​up road repairs

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw reviewed the progress of work being carried out by the Public Works Department at the meeting. He directed special attention to the quality of construction work. He stressed the need to complete approved projects within the stipulated timeframe and regularly monitor the work. He said that there should be no unnecessary delays in construction work. He urged the government to expedite road repair work after the rains. 

Mr. Saw inquired about the status of buildings, roads, bridges, and other construction projects. He stated that road and infrastructure projects directly impact public traffic, so there should be no negligence in construction. He urged officials to develop a work plan. The upcoming festival season is approaching, so quality work should be completed within the deadline and people should not be inconvenienced. 

  • Instructions for maintenance of drinking water infrastructure and regular monitoring of schemes

While reviewing the works of the Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. Saw reviewed the status of drinking water and other schemes. He inquired about the progress of drinking water arrangements, water supply related works and ongoing schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission. He gave instructions to maintain the drinking water system smoothly, ensure availability of water sources and promptly resolve the problems related to drinking water. He asked to complete the pending works on priority and to effectively provide the benefits of government schemes to the common citizens. He also gave instructions to ensure maintenance of drinking water related infrastructure and regular monitoring of the schemes.

  • Increase sports activities in primary schools.

In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister inquired about sports activities, sports infrastructure, and programs conducted to connect youth with sports. He said that to promote sports in rural areas, sports activities should be increased in primary schools. Sports officers should work with the District Panchayat CEO and the Education Department to develop an action plan. He asked to identify one PTI per school cluster to conduct sports activities.

He also inquired about the registration being done for Surguja Olympics. He gave instructions to promote it widely, involve sports associations and people associated with sports and motivate maximum number of people to participate. He said that sports inspire health, discipline, self-confidence, the nature of working together and creativity. Therefore, along with providing better sports facilities to the youth, necessary efforts should be made to promote local talents. Chief Executive Officer of Surguja District Panchayat Ms. Roma Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer of Surajpur District Panchayat Mr. Vijendra Singh Patle and Commissioner of Ambikapur Municipal Corporation Mr. Vinay Kumar Agarwal were also present in the meeting.
