- Relief Worth ₹19.46 Crore for Over 65,000 Consumers in Rajnandgaon Region
The ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Settlement Scheme-2026’ has brought significant relief to consumers across four districts under the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited’s Rajnandgaon region. More than 65,000 consumers struggling with outstanding electricity bill dues have benefited from this scheme. So far, waivers totaling ₹19 crore 46 lakh have been granted on the principal outstanding amount and surcharges. Keeping consumer convenience in mind, the scheme’s duration has now been extended to December 31, 2026.
- Widespread Implementation Across Four Districts
The scheme is being implemented on a large scale across the Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts within the Rajnandgaon region. Through this initiative, eligible consumers in the BPL (Below Poverty Line), domestic, and agricultural categories are receiving waivers on old dues in accordance with established provisions. To date, 65,062 consumers have benefited from the scheme.
- Total Number of Beneficiaries
Consumers can settle their outstanding dues by visiting their nearest distribution center or zonal office. By settling their pending electricity bills, consumers can not only relieve themselves of a financial burden but also ensure uninterrupted electricity service in the future. By paying bills on time and settling dues, consumers can play the role of responsible citizens and contribute valuable support toward strengthening the power company. The primary objective of the scheme is to provide support to economically weaker sections and farmers, enabling them to avail electricity services without the burden of past dues. The state government’s public-welfare ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Settlement Scheme’ covers 31,392 inactive consumers and 33,669 eligible active consumers. Beneficiary consumers have so far deposited outstanding dues amounting to approximately ₹5.89 crore with the electricity company, thereby boosting the company’s revenue collection.
- Active Participation Across Divisions
Consumers across seven electricity divisions in the Rajnandgaon region have participated enthusiastically in this scheme. Beneficiaries include 24,415 consumers in the Kawardha division, 21,234 in Pandariya, 6,023 in Rajnandgaon, 5,351 in Dongargarh, 3,670 in Khairagarh, 3,076 in Mohla, and 1,293 in Dongargaon.
- Special Campaign Across 66 Distribution Centers and 3 Zones
Shri Harsh Kumar Meshram, Chief Engineer of the Rajnandgaon region, stated that a special campaign is being conducted across 66 distribution centers and 3 zones to ensure the scheme’s benefits reach every eligible individual. Departmental officials and staff are visiting rural and urban areas to raise awareness among consumers regarding eligibility, waivers, and the process for settling outstanding dues.
- Avail Benefits Until December 31, 2026
Chief Engineer Shri Meshram has urged eligible consumers in the BPL, domestic, and agricultural categories—who have outstanding electricity bills dating back to before March 31, 2023—not to delay in availing the scheme’s benefits. Consumers can avail the benefits of this scheme by contacting their nearest electricity distribution center or zonal office by December 31, 2026. This resolution for outstanding dues not only relieves consumers of financial burdens but also ensures the uninterrupted continuity of their electricity services.
