  • Prioritizing Development Alongside the Preservation of Cultural Heritage – MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap
  • Padma Shri Dr. Budhari Tati and ‘Swachhata Didis’ (Sanitation Workers) Honored; Participants Receive Awards at Dantewada State Foundation Day Celebrations

On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the formation of the state of Chhattisgarh, a district-level ‘Rajyotsav’ (State Foundation Day celebration) was organized at the Mendka Dobra ground in Dantewada, centered around the theme ‘Empowered Women, Youth Aspirations’ (Sashakt Nari, Yuva Udaan). During the event, individuals who have performed exemplary work—including Padma Shri Dr. Budhari Tati and various ‘Swachhata Didis’—were honored. Through exhibitions set up by different government departments, citizens were informed about various public welfare schemes and development initiatives. Additionally, materials and resources were distributed to the beneficiaries.

The event was inaugurated by Bastar MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap. He stated that the government’s priority is to accelerate development while preserving Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. Chhattisgarh came into existence as a separate state on November 1, 2000, following a decision by the late former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The formation of the state opened up new avenues for development.

MP Shri Kashyap noted that infrastructure—including roads, education, healthcare, and other basic amenities—is being continuously expanded into the remote regions of Bastar. He highlighted the significant work accomplished during the tenure of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, particularly in the areas of the Public Distribution System (PDS), paddy procurement, and rural infrastructure. He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, dedicated efforts are being made for the welfare of poor families, farmers, and the residents of forest-dwelling communities. Examples of these initiatives include the approval of 1.8 million (18 lakh) houses for poor families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the payment of ₹5,500 per standard bag to tendu leaf collectors. He called upon everyone to participate in ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person in line and in building a developed Chhattisgarh.

MLA Shri Chautram Atami stated that the folk culture, folk arts, festivals, and traditions of Chhattisgarh constitute the state’s unique identity. He emphasized the need to advance development while preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Bastar and Dantewada. Zila Panchayat President Shri Nandlal Mudami noted that Dantewada is witnessing positive change through the expansion of roads, education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure. The youth of the district are excelling in the field of education and making a mark for themselves across various sectors.

During the ‘Rajyotsav’ (State Festival), Padma Shri Dr. Budhri Tati was honored with a shawl and a shrifal (coconut, a traditional token of respect). Employees who demonstrated exemplary performance were presented with certificates of appreciation. ‘Swachhata Didis’—women contributing to sanitation efforts—were also honored with a shawl and a shrifal.

  • Awards for Participants in Departmental Exhibitions and Cultural Programs

At the ‘Rajyotsav’, various government departments organized exhibitions showcasing public welfare schemes and development initiatives. Participants who excelled in the event’s competitions were awarded prizes.
