There is tremendous enthusiasm among women in Chhattisgarh regarding the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Particularly, women from poor, middle, and lower-middle-class backgrounds have found considerable relief from this scheme. Women have expressed that the initiative has strengthened their self-assurance and self-worth.
The timely disbursement of funds through the scheme, facilitated by the good governance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is widely appreciated. This month marks the distribution of the fifth installment of Rs 1,000 each under the scheme, directly into the bank accounts of women via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This financial support has notably increased the status and respect of women within their families.
Smt. Hema Sahu, a member of the Saheli Sangh Self-Help Group, which operates a canteen in the Collectorate premises of Dhamtari stated “The self-help groups’ women are reaping significant benefits from this scheme. They can now actively contribute to economic activities.”
She added that the funds received through the scheme enable women to better cater to their children’s needs, manage household expenses, purchase daily essentials, and meet other requirements. They are also saving for the future, promoting self-reliance and confidence among women.
