A grand ‘Maati Ke Veer’ footmarch was organized today in Jashpur to commemorate ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’, in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. In his inaugural address, Union Minister Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the crucial role played by the youth in India’s struggle for independence and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mandaviya stated that the life of Lord Birsa Munda, who fought and sacrificed his life for the country’s freedom at the age of 25, serves as an inspiration for all. He reminded the gathering that nearly six lakh youth sacrificied their lives in the fight for India’s independence. Dr. Mandaviya urged the youth to take a pledge to fulfill the dream of a developed India and to come forward in promoting social welfare. On the occasion, he also announced the construction of a fully equipped sports stadium in Jashpur city, on the request of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated in his address that it is a matter of great pride for Chhattisgarh and Jashpur to host this event in celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. He conveyed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for declaring November 15 as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ in honor of Lord Birsa Munda, providing another significant opportunity for the tribal community to take pride in their heritage.
Shri Vishnu Deo Sai further stated that whenever tribal culture has faced threats, the tribal society has always stood strong in defense of it. He described tribal culture as one rooted in a deep love for nature, a culture of harmony, peace, and goodwill. He praised tribal culture for its deep connection to nature, its spirit of harmony, peace, and goodwill. He added saying that this culture, which cherishes the arts, is the foundation of our tribal Sanatan culture. The effort to preserve tribal culture is, in essence, an effort to preserve Sanatan culture. The glorification of tribal culture is, therefore, the glorification of Sanatan culture.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated, “Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM-JANMAN scheme are being implemented for the welfare of tribal communities. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Eklavya schools to provide quality education to tribal children and the Van-Dhan Yojana to enhance their income. Besides, free healthcare services for tribal communities have been introduced under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Today, Chhattisgarh is fortunate to have a double-engine government. We have outlined a comprehensive strategy for the development of tribal areas, and our government is dedicated to restoring the ancient glory and dignity of tribal society.”
He further stated that Naxalism is now in its final stages in Chhattisgarh, and the roots of democracy are spreading to the remotest areas. Essential infrastructure such as roads, drinking water, electricity, education, healthcare, and communication services are reaching even the most interior villages under the Niyad Nella Naar Yojana. “We are committed to building a developed Chhattisgarh as part of the vision for a developed India. This goal will be achieved with the active participation of all, ensuring maximum involvement of tribal communities,” he added.
A video film showcasing the life of Lord Birsa Munda was screened at the inaugural programme of the ‘Maati ke Veer Padyatra’. Tribal youth who have achieved excellence in sports and other fields, along with volunteers from the My Bharat initiative, were honored during the event. Shri Shankar Ram Barla, President of the Munda Samaj, also addressed the gathering. A grand exhibition highlighting the life stories of tribal heroes, as well as tribal culture and traditions, was organized at the Purana Nagar Ground, the venue for the Maati ke Veer Padyatra programme.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Tribal Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Jashpur district Shri OP Choudhary, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, MPs Shri Radheshyam Rathiya and Shri Chintamani Maharaj, MLAs Smt. Gomati Sai, Smt. Raimuni Bhagat, Shri Ram Kumar Toppo, Shri Sushant Shukla, State Women Commission member Smt. Priyambada Singh Judeo, Shri Prabal Pratap Singh Judeo, Shri Ranvijay Singh Judeo, along with other public representatives, a large number of youth, and citizens.
