Work in mission mode for the welfare of farmers: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

  • It is our duty to improve the lives of farmers, effectively implement the Farmer Welfare Year;

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that it is our duty to care for the sufferings of those who feed us all. The overall welfare of farmers is a priority for the state government. This is a mission for the government. The government has declared the year 2026 as the Farmer Welfare Year. To improve the lives of farmers and for their betterment, ensure the most effective implementation of the Farmer Welfare Year in mission mode with complete dedication. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing all the commissioners and collectors of the state through video conferencing on Saturday.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that special efforts should be made to bring prosperity to the lives of farmers during the Farmer Welfare Year. Farmer Chariots should be run. These should be inaugurated by local MPs/MLAs and other public representatives. He also urged that continuous communication should be maintained with farmers at various locations during the Farmer Welfare Year. They should be encouraged to cultivate peanuts and black gram in greater acreage/quantity instead of summer mung beans. Natural and organic farming should be encouraged. To promote climate, energy, and sustainable agriculture, farmers should be made aware of the e-development portal and the use of fertilizers in balanced quantities. Maximum farmers should benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Yojana being implemented in aspirational districts. Wide publicity should be provided to increase the production area of ​​pulses and oilseeds.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that every necessary effort should be made for the development of agriculture-based industries in the Farmer Welfare Year. The government is taking every necessary step for the welfare of farmers in collaboration with agriculture-related departments and progressive voluntary organizations and institutions in this field. He said that under the leadership of Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development, more than 15 departments including Horticulture and Food Processing, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Fisheries, Water Resources, Cooperatives, Energy, Revenue, Forest, Panchayat and Rural Development, Cottage and Village Industries will play an active role in celebrating the Farmer Welfare Year.

  • Stop stubble burning and make farmers aware to send the straw from their fields to cow shelters .

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that all collectors should strictly curb the incidents of stubble burning in their respective districts. They should prepare a stubble management plan for their respective districts. The stubble and straw produced in the fields should be used properly. Composite biogas plants should be established using crop residue and cow dung. All collectors should ensure that the stubble and straw produced by farmers in the fields are delivered only to the nearest cow shelters, large or small. This will benefit the cattle.

  • Make concerted efforts to increase milk production – an app is being developed for cattle farmers

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav asked all the collectors to make coordinated efforts to increase milk production in their districts. Animal farmers should be made aware of the economic benefits of focusing on breed improvement, animal nutrition and animal health. More fish farms should be developed at the district level for fish seed production. Fish parlors should be established in every urban body area and it should be ensured that fish sellers sell fish only in the designated fish parlor/market. The Chief Minister said that fish parlors will be built in the urban bodies of the state. Separate funds will be provided for this.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that collectors should maintain constant communication with farmers. They should regularly monitor the activities planned for the Farmer Welfare Year. They should prepare a roster and conduct regular inspections of agricultural produce markets. They should also focus on marketing agricultural products and build a complete commercial chain for their value addition.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed the department to adopt innovations to increase the state’s milk production capacity. He said that cattle farmers should be informed of all new methods and ways to increase milk production. Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry informed that an app is being developed to enhance the knowledge of cattle farmers. This app will tell cattle farmers what type of diet should be fed to which type of cow/buffalo to increase milk production. Cattle farmers will directly benefit from this.Implement the action plan for the Farmer Welfare Year

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, while directing the collectors, said that the action plan set for the Farmer Welfare Year should be implemented effectively in the field. Special campaigns should be launched during this period. Small and large programs should also be organized. Intensive contact should be established with farmers at the grassroots level. Verification and cooperation of all beneficiaries should be obtained. New beneficiaries should also be selected during this period. Action should be taken to simplify and improve all existing schemes, policies, rules, and directives. New schemes and programs should also be launched during this period as per the needs of the department or organization. Various innovative activities should also be undertaken. New financial sources such as Public Private Partnership (PPP), re-diversification, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should also be utilized for the development of the agriculture sector. Special efforts should also be made during the Farmer Welfare Year to obtain grants or approvals from the Central Government’s farmer-friendly schemes.

  • Kodo-Kutki bonus distribution program will be held in Dindori in February , state level cooperative conference will be held in March.

The Chief Minister also discussed the monthly activities planned for the Farmer Welfare Year. He stated that a Kodo-Kutki bonus distribution program will be held in Dindori district in the first week of February. Kodo-Kutki is produced in more than 16 districts of the state. The government has earmarked 2,800 tons of Kodo-Kutki for the year 2025. The Rose Festival will be held in the second week. In the third week, a state-level Agristack and Digital Agriculture Exhibition will be held in a district in the Nimar region to ensure 100% farmer ID registration and integration of farmer-oriented schemes with Agristack. Similarly, in the last week of this month, two major events will be organized in different districts under the name Krishi Manthan. In March, a state-level cooperative conference will be held to provide new agricultural loans to farmers and benefit them under the Krishak Nyay Mitra Yojana. This conference will also mark the beginning of providing doorstep banking services to farmers through district cooperative central banks.
