The dream of a developed India will be realised only through the prosperity and well-being of farmers: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the food provider is the strong backbone of the country’s economy and the dream of a developed India will come true only through the prosperity and well-being of the farmers. Farmers of the state paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister at his residence office today and expressed gratitude for the announcement of transferring the difference amount of more than Rs 10 thousand crore for paddy through Krishak Unnati Yojana to the accounts of farmers before Holi. On this occasion, the farmers felicitated the Chief Minister on behalf of the food providers of the state by weighing him with paddy.

              Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi always cares for farmers and is continuously working to increase their income. He noted that India is an agricultural country and the progress of farmers is the foundation of national progress. He added that during Atal ji’s tenure, important schemes like the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) were implemented to empower farmers, making loans available to them at low interest rates. Previously, farmers had to borrow from moneylenders at high interest rates, leaving them vulnerable to economic exploitation. The Chief Minister stated that farmers now have access to interest-free capital. He added that through the Prime Minister’s Irrigation Scheme, water is reaching farmers’ fields and the area under irrigation is continuously increasing in the state.

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is purchasing 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at a rate of Rs. 3,100 per quintal, the highest in the country. He added that the government has decided to transfer the difference in paddy, amounting to over Rs. 10,000 crore, to farmers’ accounts before Holi. This amount will be transferred from Bilaspur district on February 28th and will be celebrated as a festival in development blocks across the state. The Chief Minister stated that this year, 14.1 million metric tons of paddy has been purchased from 2.524 million farmers. He assured that the state government will continue to work with commitment in the interests of farmers.

On this occasion, farmers from across the state including Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Seed Development Corporation, Mr. Chandrahas Chandrakar were present.
