Chhattisgarh has achieved another significant national milestone in the area of women’s health, nutrition, and empowerment. Chhattisgarh has made history by securing first place in the country among large states in the February 2026 state-wise national rankings for implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The state achieved this feat, surpassing other large states.
According to the rankings released, Chhattisgarh has performed exceptionally well with 93.37 percent enrollment, an 83.87 percent approval rate, and prompt resolution of 93.95 percent of complaints. The rate of pending cases for more than 30 days is only 7.07 percent and the complaint pending rate is 4.96 percent, reflecting the effective and transparent implementation of the scheme. It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh has jumped six places compared to last month to reach the first position.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai congratulated the officials, employees, Anganwadi workers, and field staff of the Women and Child Development Department on this achievement and said that the state government is giving top priority to maternal and child health. He said that safe motherhood is being promoted by providing financial assistance to pregnant women through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and Chhattisgarh’s first place is a testament to the continuous efforts being made in this direction.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade congratulated the departmental team, calling this prestigious achievement a proud moment for the state. She said that Chhattisgarh has become one of the leading states in the country today due to the able guidance and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. She said that the state has achieved this position as a result of the mutual coordination, commitment, and timely work style of all the officers, employees, and Anganwadi workers.

Minister Smt. Rajwade expressed confidence that the department will maintain this first position in the future as well by working with the same energy and dedication and will provide the benefits of the scheme to every eligible pregnant woman of the state on time. Giving information about the implementation of the scheme, she said that till now in the financial year 2025-26, 1,86,586 pregnant women in the state have been registered under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Till now, the state government has transferred an amount of Rs 72 crore 24 lakh 89 thousand directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiary women.
With the effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, maternal and child health services in the state have got a new strength and Chhattisgarh is emerging as an inspirational model before the country.
