The Chhattisgarh government’s public welfare schemes have brought a new dawn of self-confidence and self-reliance to women in rural areas. Mrs. Neera Sahu, a resident of Gumrakalan village in Surguja district, is a living example of this. The confluence of Bihan (Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihoods Mission) and the Mahatari Vandan Yojana has transformed her from an ordinary housewife to a successful entrepreneur.
- Joining the group and starting self-employment
Neera Sahu explains that her success story began with joining the Saraswati Self-Help Group. Through the group, she received a loan of 17,000 rupees , which she invested in her small shop. Gradually, the shop began to flourish, and her income began to increase.
- Support received from Mahatari Vandan Yojana
Neera’s spirits soared when she began receiving benefits under the government’s Mahatari Vandan Yojana. She utilized this assistance to expand her shop. Today, she not only runs her shop efficiently but also supports her family’s financial situation by assisting with farming.
- Education and bright future for children
Financial independence has had the greatest impact on her children’s education. Neera is educating all three of her children in a model school. She says that while she used to be confined to the home , she now confidently handles both business and family responsibilities.
- Expressed gratitude for the government’s schemes
Encouraged by her progress, Neera Sahu says that the Bihan Yojana is bringing about change for women. Today, rural women are confidently moving toward self-reliance. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for providing them with the opportunity and support to move forward.
