- Chief Secretary chairs high-level meeting, sets theme for “Yoga for Healthy Aging”
Chhattisgarh will host a grand celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21st. This year’s Yoga Day theme is “Yoga for Healthy Aging.” To ensure a comprehensive and successful event, State Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel held a high-level meeting with senior officials from various departments at the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhawan) today to review preparations.
- State level main event will be held in Surguja
Officials at the meeting informed that this year’s main state-level International Yoga Day event will likely be held in Surguja district. The Chief Secretary directed officials to complete all necessary and thorough preparations in a timely manner.
- Public participation from Gram Panchayat to District level
Chief Secretary Mr. Vikassheel directed that yoga programs be organized in all districts of the state in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. All collectors have been instructed to organize mandatory yoga programs at prominent locations in every Gram Panchayat in the state. For the successful implementation of the program, officials from the AYUSH Department and the Social Welfare Department have been asked to work in close coordination. Instructions have also been given to ensure maximum public participation at the district level.
- Special attention will be given to NEET candidates

The Chief Secretary cautioned officials that the National Testing Agency (NTA) is also conducting a NEET re-examination on June 21. Keeping this in mind, it should be ensured that Yoga Day events do not cause any inconvenience or discomfort to NEET test centers and candidates.
- Preparations for creating Guinness World Records and digital registration
According to officials from the AYUSH Department, the Government of India has directed widespread public participation this time. An attempt is being made to set a Guinness World Record through an online yoga practice session from 6:15 a.m. to 7:35 a.m., starting June 14, 2026. To increase public participation, a toll-free number, 1800-315-7008, has been issued, allowing easy registration by giving a missed call. Officials also informed that the Ministry of AYUSH has launched the Yoga Sangam Portal-2026, through which various organizations, departments, educational institutions, local bodies, autonomous institutions, public sector undertakings, yoga institutes, and community organizations can register for the International Yoga Day events to be held on June 21, 2026, and upload details and photographs after the event. Secretaries, heads of departments, divisional commissioners, and collectors of all government departments have been asked to direct subordinate institutions and offices to register on the portal and upload program information after the event. In this important meeting held at the Ministry, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest and Climate Change Department, Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Principal Secretary of Home Department, Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, Secretary of School Education Department, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary of Housing and Environment Department, Mr. Ankit Anand, along with Secretaries of Urban Administration, Commercial Tax, Agriculture, Labour and AYUSH Department and senior officers of Yoga Commission were present.
