  • Awareness Chariot departs, message of healthy family will be given through mother-in-law-daughter-in-law conference and public awareness programmes

In Jashpur district, the Population Stabilization Fortnight is being celebrated from July 11th to 18th with the aim of strengthening the concept of a healthy and happy family. As part of the campaign, special programs are being organized across the district to increase public awareness about family planning. Collector Mr. Rohit Vyas has instructed officials to spread the importance of family planning to every household and to make as many people aware as possible by removing the misconceptions related to it.
In this sequence, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. G.S. Jatra flagged off the awareness chariot. This chariot will travel to rural and urban areas of the district and provide information to the general public about family planning, safe motherhood, population stabilization and available health services.

“When there is the right spacing between children, families become healthy and happy.”
This year’s campaign theme is “When there is the right spacing between children, families become healthy and happy.” Dr. Jatra explained that the campaign aims to educate couples about the appropriate timing of conception, maintaining a safe gap of at least three years between two children, and various family planning options. This improves maternal and child health, while also strengthening the economic and social status of families.
During the campaign, mother-in-law-daughter-in-law conferences, counseling camps, and various public awareness programs will be organized at all community health centers, primary health centers, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the district. These events will address misconceptions related to family planning and inform eligible couples about available services and their benefits.

All family planning methods are available free of charge.
According to the Health Department, permanent and temporary family planning methods are available completely free of charge at all government health institutions in the district. These include the Copper-T, Antara injection, contraceptive pills (Chhaya and Mala-N), and condoms. Interested couples are also provided with necessary counseling and services by trained health workers.

Incentive of Rs 3,000 on male sterilization
To promote family planning, the government gives an incentive of Rs 3,000 to the beneficiaries who undergo male sterilization. During the population stabilization fortnight, from 11th to 18th July, the facility of male sterilization will be available every day in the District Hospital Jashpur and Community Health Center Pathalgaon.
The Health Department has appealed to all eligible couples of the district to ensure their participation in building a healthy, safe and happy family by adopting family planning and to take maximum benefit of the free health services provided by the government.
