With the arrival of monsoon in the state, agricultural activities are in full swing. As of July 22, 69 percent of the target area of 33.50 lakh hectares has been sown in the state. This Kharif season, the target area for sowing has been set at 48.69 lakh hectares.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s instructions: Farmers should get fertilizers and seeds easily
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has directed the concerned officials to provide all necessary support to provide facilities to the farmers in farming. He has asked to distribute certified fertilizers and seeds to the farmers easily as per their demand. He has also given instructions to take strict action against any kind of negligence in the fertilizer-seed distribution system. Along with this, it has been asked to keep a constant watch by storing sufficient fertilizers and seeds in the societies. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, the officials of the Agriculture Department are keeping a constant watch on this.
9.22 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 4.12 lakh quintals of certified seeds distributed to farmers
Agriculture department officials informed that till now 9.22 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers and 4.12 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state. Officials informed that the area under sowing is also continuously increasing in the farming which started with the showers of monsoon in the state. Till now, sowing of various crops like paddy, maize, kodo, kutki, arhar, green gram, groundnut, ramtil etc has been done in 33.50 lakh hectare area in the state, which is 69 percent of the target. In this Kharif season, the state government has set a target of sowing in 48.69 lakh hectare area.
So far, the state has recorded an average rainfall of 389.7 mm: The average annual rainfall of the state is 1246.3 mm.
Officials said that as of the morning of July 22nd, the state has recorded an average rainfall of 389.7 mm, while the state’s average annual rainfall is 1246.3 mm. It’s worth noting that the average recorded rainfall for the districts to date, based on the last 10 years, is 421.5 mm. The rainfall recorded today, as of the reporting time, is 33.5 mm.
4.12 lakh quintals of seeds distributed to farmers
Officials said that for Kharif 2026, the Seed Corporation has set a target of distributing 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds in the state. Against this, 4.70 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored and 4.12 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to farmers so far, which is 83 percent of the demand. Last year, during the same period, 4.11 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed.
Similarly, a target of distributing 15.55 lakh metric tons of fertilizer has been set in the state this Kharif season. Against this target, 14.57 lakh metric tons of fertilizer have been stored in the cooperative and private sectors. Against this storage, 9.22 lakh metric tons of fertilizer have been distributed to farmers, which is 59 percent of the target.
Free short term agricultural loan of Rs 6633.71 crore to needy farmers
Officials said the state government is providing short-term agricultural loans to farmers through Kisan Credit Cards to facilitate farming. As of July 21, loans worth ₹6,633.71 crore have been disbursed for the current Kharif 2026 season, compared to ₹5,560.34 crore in the same period last year. This year, a target has been set to disburse loans worth ₹8,800 crore to farmers.
