- Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, an innovative initiative of Bihan and the district administration, Amaru is being developed as a fish production cluster.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, various innovation-based schemes are being effectively implemented in the state with the aim of strengthening the rural economy, creating new livelihood opportunities and increasing the income of farmers and rural families. In this series, through the joint efforts of Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission Bihan and the District Administration Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Gram Panchayat Amaru of Development Block Pendra is being developed as a fish production cluster under the Integrated Farming Cluster (IFC). This initiative is emerging as an important initiative to give a new direction to rural livelihood, women empowerment and fisheries-based entrepreneurship.
Under the guidance of Collector Mr. Vijay Dayaram K. and the direction of Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Mr. Mukesh Raote, approximately 10,000 to 12,000 fish spawn were stocked in the pond at Amaru. This initiative aims to develop fish farming as a profitable and sustainable livelihood by ensuring the production of quality fish seed locally.
This innovation, implemented through the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Bihan, is providing rural communities with new self-employment opportunities through better utilization of local resources. Once the fish spawn is developed into fingerlings, they will be made available to fisheries entrepreneurs associated with integrated farming clusters, women’s self-help groups, and other beneficiaries. This will increase the local availability of quality fish seed, reduce production costs, and significantly increase fish production.
This initiative is not limited to fisheries, but also represents an important step towards transforming the rural economy into a multi-faceted one. Local fish seed production will provide additional income opportunities for villagers, promote self-employment, and strengthen the economic participation of women’s self-help groups. This will create new employment opportunities in rural areas and strengthen the concept of self-reliant villages.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the state government aims to ensure sustainable income growth for rural families by encouraging agriculture and allied businesses. In line with this vision, a holistic model of rural development is being developed by integrating agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and other livelihood activities through the Integrated Farming Cluster Model.
During the program, district and block-level officials and technical experts provided villagers, fish farmers, and beneficiaries with detailed information on scientific fish farming, quality fish seed production, pond management, and the effective operation of integrated farming clusters. Officials stated that this model will significantly increase fish production capacity in the future, establishing the Amaru region as a strong center for fish production.
This initiative by the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) and the district administration will not only strengthen the rural economy but also prove to be an important step towards a self-reliant Chhattisgarh. This model, based on local resources, can also serve as an inspiration for other regions of the state.
