The final match of the ‘PEKB Cricket Champions Trophy’ was played between Fatehpur and Basen on Wednesday at Salhi Sports Ground. Fatehpur performed brilliantly in this exciting final and defeated Basen by 56 runs to become the champion of PEKB Cricket Trophy. On this occasion, hundreds of villagers reached the ground to encourage the players.
In the match, Basen won the toss and decided to bowl first. In the match, Fatehpur scored 120 runs in the stipulated 12 overs, thanks to the excellent innings of 43 runs by batsman Shubhan Singh Porte, which gave Basen a target of 121 runs. On the other hand, despite Shivbaran Agra taking 3 important wickets from Basen’s side, Fatehpur’s score proved to be challenging for Basen. Chasing the target, Basen’s team came under pressure from the very beginning.
Although Shivbaran played an innings of 28 runs, he did not get support from any other batsman, and Basen’s entire team could score only 64 runs in the stipulated overs. In this way, Fatehpur won the match by 56 runs.
Shubhan Singh of the winning team Fatehpur was selected as the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings of 43 runs and taking 1 wicket and Fatehpur’s all-rounder captain Samay Prasad Shyam was given the Man of the Tournament award for his excellent performance throughout the tournament. Samay Prasad scored a total of 97 runs and took 12 wickets in the tournament.
Salhi youth Jai Singh Kusro was present in the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament, along with senior citizen Dev Singh of Fatehpur, etc. Chief of Cluster of PEKB mine Manoj Shahi, Cluster HR Head Ram Dwivedi, Deputy Sarpanch Basen Itwar Say, Deputy Sarpanch Parsa Ganesh Yadav participated. Under the leadership of the dignitaries of the village, Mr. Manoj Shahi presented the PEKB trophy to the first runner-up team and a cash prize of 11 thousand to Basen captain Shani Ram and his team on behalf of Salhi Cricket Committee.
After that, Fatehpur team captain Samay Prasad and his team received the PEKB trophy and a cash prize of 21000 from PEKB Salhi Cricket Committee.
It is noteworthy that the inauguration of the inter-village ‘PEKB Cricket Trophy’, organized by the Rajasthan State Electricity Generation Corporation Limited (RRVUNL) in the Udaipur block of Surguja district, started on 14 October at the Salhi ground with the rhythm of the famous Karma dance of the region. The objective of this tournament was to generate interest in sports and to bring out the hidden talents in the villages of the region. A total of 16 teams from nearby villages participated in the cricket tournament. In this cricket tournament, played on knock-out basis, T-shirts and lowers were provided to the teams of both the pools.
