The Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme 2026, launched by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, is proving to be a lifeline for economically vulnerable families in the state. The scheme’s widespread impact is being seen in Dhamtari district, where thousands of consumers are freed from the burden of years-old electricity bills and returning to the mainstream of development.

The outstanding electricity bill had become a mental stress for the family of Mr. B.S. Vishal, a resident of Dhamtari. Limited income and family responsibilities led to mounting bills, leading to the constant fear of power outages. When the government announced a resolution plan, his son, Daniel Vishal, contacted the department’s camp.

Daniel explained that the substantial discount on the outstanding principal amount and the 100% waiver of surcharges have given his family a fresh start. Now, he is able to pay his bills regularly. The scheme has been a resounding success in Dhamtari district.
According to the latest data released by the Electricity Department, there is tremendous enthusiasm for the scheme in the district. So far, 4,652 eligible consumers have been identified for the scheme. Of these, 4,115 consumers have completed the application process offline. Following the application, 537 families have already received direct benefits by being released from their dues.

The scheme has been designed to benefit the last person in society. Consumers below the poverty line are being offered a substantial rebate of up to 75 percent on the outstanding principal amount. Similarly, domestic and agricultural consumers are being provided relief of up to 50 percent on the outstanding principal amount. Late payment surcharges have been waived 100 percent for all eligible categories. Consumers will only need to make a 10 percent initial deposit, after which they can pay the remaining amount in fixed installments as per their convenience.

This scheme will begin on March 12, 2026, and will remain in effect until June 30, 2026. The Electricity Department is organizing special camps in villages and wards to ensure that no eligible individual is left out due to lack of information. Public awareness is also being generated through mass media and local announcements.
