Arogya Jashpur Abhiyan: Health revolution, innovation and facilities are changing the picture in the remote forest region.

  • From helplines, maternal and child care, snakebite management to modern health infrastructure – benefits are being provided at every level

The “Arogya Jashpur Abhiyan,” aimed at strengthening and making health services accessible in the remote, forested and scheduled district of Jashpur, has emerged as a comprehensive and effective initiative. Despite geographical challenges and limited resources, the district administration and health department have improved health services through a well-planned roadmap. Under this campaign, not only are quality health services reaching the public, but innovations are also receiving state-level recognition. To ensure improved health facilities in the district, Collector Mr. Rohit Vyas regularly reviews health facilities at the District Health Committee meetings.

  • Swasthya Mitra Helpline Health Services on One Call –

The Swasthya Mitra helpline, 07763-299030, launched in the district, is proving to be life-saving for the public. This free service provides immediate assistance in emergencies. More than 3,180 calls have been received and services have been provided, with responses within five minutes and one to three follow-ups per call. An ambulance tracking link similar to Ola and Uber is being provided, increasing both transparency and convenience.

  • Pahari Korwa Helpdesk: Reaching out to the Special Backward Tribe –

To connect PVTG communities to health services, a Special Backward Tribe Support Center has been established at the Bagicha Community Health Center. The helpdesk, staffed by tribal women, is raising awareness by communicating in the local language. This initiative has provided over 1,450 patients with outpatient care, over 900 with IPD services, and over 140 safe institutional deliveries. Regular health camps are also being organized in remote areas through mobile medical units.

  • A healthy mother is everyone’s responsibility; special focus on maternal and child health

Pregnant women are being regularly monitored through the Reaching Every Delivery (RED) call center. More than 44,000 calls have been made so far to ensure the health of mothers and newborns. This has led to an increase in institutional deliveries and the timely identification and treatment of high-risk pregnancies.

  • Snakebite Management: An Effective Approach to Save Lives

The availability of anti-snake venom has been ensured in all hospitals in the district. Of the 626 snakebite cases reported this year, 616 were successfully treated. Case-to-case monitoring through Google Sheets, expert consultations through WhatsApp groups, and initiatives to train local Baiga-Guniyas and send them to the hospital quickly have all contributed to a reduction in mortality.

  • Blood Availability Dashboard Timely Life-Saving Facility-

Blood storage units have been established at the district hospital, as well as at community health centers in Pathalgaon, Kunkuri, Bagicha, Farsabahar, Kansabel, and Duldula. A real-time dashboard has been developed on the official website of Jashpur district, the NIC portal. This provides the public with accurate information about blood availability at health centers, enabling timely treatment in emergencies.

  • Expansion of health infrastructure: network is getting stronger –

To strengthen health services in the district, several new institutions are being approved and operational. These include a 220-bed Kunkuri Hospital, a new MCH, three new CHCs, seven new PHCs, an urban health center, an NRC, a critical care block, a BPHU, a nursing and physiotherapy college, and a yoga and naturopathy center. A 50-seat medical college is also proposed. This comprehensive improvement in health services through the Arogya Jashpur Abhiyan is not only strengthening public health but also positively transforming the lives of people living in remote forest areas. This initiative is emerging as an excellent example of innovation, dedication, and effective implementation in the health sector.
