  • Agriculture department took action after finding irregularities

The Agriculture Department has taken a tough stand against fertilizer black marketing and irregularities in Kondagaon district. In this connection, a 21-day ban has been imposed on the purchase and sale of fertilizers at the Messrs. Gautam Krishi Kendra in village Bafna. This action was taken on the instructions of the Collector.

A flying squad team, led by the Deputy Director of Agriculture, conducted a surprise inspection of the center. During this physical verification of urea fertilizer, discrepancies were found between the records on the POS machine and the fertilizer supplied to farmers. Furthermore, the store’s stock register was found to be out of order, the sales rate board was not displayed, and farmers were not being issued bills for their purchases. Considering these irregularities serious, the Agriculture Department has immediately suspended the center’s purchases for 21 days. A detailed investigation has also been initiated. Officials stated that regular inspections are being conducted in the district to ensure farmers receive quality fertilizer at the correct price, and strict action will be taken if any irregularities are found.
