Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited the exhibition organized by the Khadi and Village Industries Department on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium premises in Raipur on Wednesday. During his visit, he demonstrated his skill on the potter’s wheel by making a clay bowl and also purchased a Kosa saree with tattoo art, crafted by local weavers. On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, several activities were organized at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, including an exhibition by the Khadi and Village Industries Department, marking the conclusion of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada’.
At the event, Chief Minister Shri Sai launched a campaign for the prevention of malaria and dengue initiated by the Raipur District Administration. He also flagged off a military vehicle that will participate in a military exhibition at the Science College Ground.
Chief Minister Undergoes TB Test Using AI Technology
Chief Minister also underwent a TB test using AI technology and received his report within two minutes, which indicated normal results. He commended the district administration for this innovative initiative and encouraged more people to get tested for TB to help in its effective prevention.
Chief Minister Visits Various Stalls
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited various stalls set up at the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium premises during the conclusion of Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada 2024. While inspecting the Raipur Municipal Corporation stalls, he inquired about the plastic-free sanitary napkins produced by the women of the Mouli Mata Self-Help Group. He also presented sanitary napkins to the ‘Swachhata Didis’. The women of the Samridhi Mahila Self-Help Group also presented the Chief Minister with Dashang, incense sticks and decorated diyas made from flowers offered in temples. Chief Minister praised their work and wished them continued success.
Shri Sai also visited the stalls of the Chhattisgarh Khadi and Village Industries Board, Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board, Chhattisgarh Matikala Board, and the Silk Department. He purchased a silk saree featuring tattoo art, crafted by Shri Devanand Dewangan of Bilaigarh, who had received the Sant Bisahu Das Mahant State Award. Chief Minister also tried his hand at the electric chalk, creating a clay bowl, and presented five electric chalks to clay craftsmen. At the Handloom Division stall, Shri Gajanand Dewangan from Seoni presented a silk shawl to the Chief Minister, who thanked him for the thoughtful gift.
It is worth mentioning that, under the Shehtoot Resham Bari Yojana, the department showcased re-reeling machines and Buniyaad reeling machines. Besides, information was provided about different types of silk, including mulberry silk, dabba silk, and tussar silk.
