The annual flagship event “Colossus IMUN-YP 2024” concluded successfully on 20th October, 2024 at Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. The three-day event which began on 18th October, featured cultural, literary and sports competitions as well as thought-provoking debates and discussions under the umbrella of Colossus International Model United Nations and Youth Parliament IMUN-YP.
This year’s fest saw enthusiastic participation from universities across India, providing a platform for students to showcase their diverse talents. Combining cultural vibrancy, intellectual discourse, and athletic competition, Colossus IMUN-YP 2024 further strengthened HNLU’s commitment to providing a holistic educational experience.
The closing ceremony celebrated not only the winners but also the spirit of unity, creativity and leadership that emerged during the event.
The ceremony began with an inspiring speech by HNLU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, who appreciated the unparalleled cooperation of the students that made Colossus IMUN-YP 2024 a grand success. He praised the organizing committee of students and teachers and quoted Max Weber’s definition of ‘culture’, that ‘culture is a finite segment of the infinite process of the world to which human beings give meaning’, and also referred to Steven Covey’s idea that ‘strength lies in differences, not in similarities’.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay K. Agarwal, Judge, Chhattisgarh High Court and Executive Council Member, HNLU, appreciated the rich and dynamic student activities of HNLU. He said that students should excel in the classroom as well as in extra-curricular activities like sports and debates. He appreciated the wonderful participation of more than 1000 students from all over India and said that Colossus IMUN-YP has become a prestigious platform in literary, cultural and sports fields, which helps in shaping the future law professionals.
The Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony, Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director, IIM Raipur, described HNLU as a hub of student activities that encourages both academic and extra-curricular development. He too lauded the excellent participation of over 1000 students from across the country, adding that Colossus IMUN-YP is a premier platform in the literary, cultural and sports fields.
IMUN-YP 2024 Secretary General Parth Tamaskar expressed his gratitude for the tireless efforts of the team, Deputy Secretary General and volunteers. IMUN-YP 2024 Head Samar Veer Shukla explained the structure of the committees and the agenda for their discussions. He praised the excellent performance of the participants and mentioned their successes in various forums.
