Consumers get major relief from Chief Minister Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme

  • The burden of outstanding bills has reduced, and the Vishal family has breathed a sigh of relief.

Under the Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme 2026, economically vulnerable consumers in the district and those troubled by outstanding electricity bills are receiving significant relief. Led by Vishnu Dev Sai, this scheme is a public welfare initiative of the state government, aimed at freeing consumers from the burden of mounting electricity dues and reintegrating them into the mainstream of regular payments.

For the family of Dhamtari resident Mr. B.S. Vishal, rising electricity bills had become a serious concern. Limited income and financial circumstances made it impossible to pay the bills on time, leading to a steadily increasing outstanding balance. Meanwhile, upon learning about this government-run settlement scheme, his son, Mr. Daniel Vishal, promptly completed the application process. Thanks to departmental support and a simple process, he quickly received the benefits of the scheme.

Under the scheme, families received a substantial discount on the outstanding principal amount, 100% waiver of surcharges, and the option to pay the remaining amount in easy installments. This has provided financial relief to the family, and they are now able to pay their electricity bills regularly. Beneficiary Mr. Daniel Bishal expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, calling the scheme extremely beneficial for the general public.
The progress of the scheme in the district is also remarkable. In Dhamtari alone, a total of 4,652 beneficiaries have been identified, of which 4,115 consumers have participated in the offline application process, and 537 consumers have received direct benefits. These figures indicate that the scheme is rapidly reaching the general public and providing real relief.
The scheme includes BPL (Below Poverty Line), domestic, and agricultural consumers. Consumers are being offered a maximum rebate of up to 75 percent on outstanding balances, while domestic and agricultural consumers receive up to 50 percent relief. Furthermore, there is a provision for complete waiver of surcharges for all categories. Consumers can pay a minimum of 10 percent and repay the remaining amount in easy installments over a stipulated period.
The scheme period is from March 12, 2026, to June 30, 2026. The Electricity Department is working to connect as many eligible consumers as possible to the scheme through camps, public relations, and local awareness campaigns.
The Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme 2026 is not only providing financial relief to consumers but also giving them the opportunity for a fresh start. This scheme is an important step towards making electricity services more transparent, accessible, and people-oriented. Many families in the district are benefiting from this scheme and reorganizing their lives, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the government’s public welfare policies.
