Dhamni village is becoming a new hub of eco-tourism.

  • Boating Facility Opens

Eco-tourism is a journey undertaken close to nature, without harming the environment, and with respect for local culture and wildlife. Its primary objectives are forest and wildlife conservation, education, and the benefit of local communities.

Dhamni village, located on the banks of the Mahanadi River within the Balodabazar Forest Division, is rapidly developing into an eco-tourism hub. Under the guidance of Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and the support of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Arun Kumar Pandey, development work is underway to develop the eco-village. In this regard, boating facilities have been introduced for tourists. Visitors can now enjoy boating on the river amidst the natural environment.

The aim is to provide employment to local people while conserving natural resources. Under the project, youth and women self-help groups of the village are getting employment opportunities, which is strengthening their economic condition. The objective of this scheme is also to develop accommodation facilities for the convenience of tourists, so that people can experience the peaceful environment while staying close to nature.

Divisional Forest Officer Shri Dhammasheel Ganvir said that this initiative is being run with public participation, which is a good example of forest conservation and rural development. Forest department officials, employees and local villagers were present in large numbers in the program.
The Forest Department’s aim is to include Dhamni among the major eco-tourism destinations of the state in the coming time.
