On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a district-level “Mahatari Vandan” conference was held yesterday at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in Korba, hosted by Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce, Industry, Labor, Excise, and Public Enterprises of the Chhattisgarh Government. At the event, women who have achieved outstanding work in various fields in the district were honored, and certificates were presented to child marriage-free panchayats. Mayor Mrs. Sanju Devi Rajput, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Mr. Nutan Singh Thakur, Collector Mr. Kunal Dudawat, Officer on Special Duty Mr. Tarun Kumar Kiran, CEO District Panchayat Mr. Dinesh Nag, District Program Officer Mr. Basant Minj, along with other public representatives, departmental officials, employees, and a large number of women were present.
Addressing the district-level event, Cabinet Minister Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan extended his heartfelt greetings to all mothers, sisters, and daughters on Women’s Day. He said that today, women are demonstrating their talent and capabilities in every field, including education, health, politics, and administration. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, several important initiatives have been taken to empower women in the country, providing them with new opportunities for advancement. Fifty percent reservation in Panchayats has strengthened both women’s participation and leadership. Minister Shri Dewangan stated that women play a crucial role in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai is continuously making efforts to empower women in the state. He stated that empowered women are the foundation of a strong society and a developed nation. Today, women have become more empowered and stronger than ever before and are ensuring their significant participation in the country’s development. Women’s role is crucial in bringing about positive change in society. Minister Shri Dewangan stated that since the formation of the government in the state, approximately 70 lakh women have been provided financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 per month under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. This has provided economic support to women and they are moving forward with confidence. He stated that women are being economically and socially empowered through various departmental schemes. The Lakhpati Didi scheme provides women with self-employment and income-generating opportunities. Activities such as tendu leaf collection are also increasing the income of women in rural and forest areas.

Cabinet Minister Shri Dewangan also praised the government and administration’s continued efforts to prevent child marriage in the district. He stated that this evil practice can only be eradicated by raising social awareness. He urged everyone to work together for the respect and empowerment of women.
Mayor Mrs. Rajput extended her best wishes to all the women and wished them a bright future. She stated that significant work is continuously being done in the country for women’s empowerment. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, numerous public welfare schemes are being implemented to empower women and make them self-reliant. Various government schemes are providing women with opportunities to advance and become self-reliant. Various initiatives such as the Lakhpati Didi Scheme, the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Scheme, and the construction of Mahatari Sadan are helping to empower women economically, socially, and institutionally. As a result, women are reaching high positions in every field and contributing fully to the country’s development.
Addressing the program, Chairperson Nutan Singh said that respect for women is considered paramount in Indian culture. Women have always been considered symbols of power, creativity, and culture, so respecting women is a hallmark of our tradition and culture. She added that the government is implementing numerous schemes to empower and empower women, providing them with opportunities for education, employment, and social security.

At the event, Collector Mr. Dudawat stated that women have always been given a high place in Indian culture. Their role in the upliftment and development of society has been crucial. He explained that today, women are achieving success in every field, including education, administration, politics, and the All India Services, and are making significant contributions to the nation’s development. The Collector also stated that for women’s economic empowerment, the state government is implementing the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, under which eligible married women are being provided financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month. Under the scheme, 293,859 eligible women in the district are receiving ₹1,000 per month in their bank accounts through DBT. While providing information on the ongoing efforts to prevent child marriage in the district, he stated that under the Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh campaign, 297 gram panchayats and 3 urban bodies in Korba district are being declared child marriage-free. He said that respect and empowerment of women is the basis for the overall development of the society and continuous efforts are being made by the government and administration for this.
- Oath administered to make the district child marriage free
At the event, Cabinet Minister Shri Lakhan Lal Devangan administered an oath to all present to make Korba a child marriage-free district. He appealed for widespread public awareness to prevent child marriage in rural areas and to motivate people to become aware of this evil practice. During the event, women who have taken advantage of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana and moved towards self-reliance shared their experiences and encouraged everyone to take better advantage of the scheme.
- Child marriage free urban bodies and panchayats were honored

Chief Guest Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan presented certificates of child marriage-free status to the Chief Municipal Officers (CMOs) of Dipka Nagar Palika Parishad, Katghora Nagar Palika Parishad, and Churikala Nagar Panchayat, who have now completely freed themselves from the evil practice of child marriage. Public representatives from the district’s child marriage-free gram panchayats were also honored with certificates.

The Women and Child Development Department honored supervisors, Anganwadi workers, and assistants for their outstanding work at the event. The chief guest also honored women from various departments who have accomplished remarkable work.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a state-level Women’s Day program was organized in Bastar, under the chief patronage of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The Chief Minister’s interaction with women and his inspiring address, broadcast live, were enthusiastically observed by all the women present at the district-level program. During this time, women drew inspiration from various government schemes and ideas related to women’s empowerment and ensured their active participation in the program.
