- Display of culture, costumes and paintings of 43 identified tribes and sub-tribes of the state

On the vision and direction of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, a grand celebration of ‘From Tradition to Identity’ – Aadi Parb-2026 will be held on March 13 and 14, 2026, at the Tribal Research and Training Institute campus in Nava Raipur. The grand celebration of ‘Aadi Parb-2026’ is being organized with the aim of providing a national platform to Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal culture, art, and traditions.
The program will be organized by the Tribal Research and Training Institute, under the Tribal Development Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. This information was provided by the Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, Mr. Sonmani Bora, and the Director of the Training Institute, Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam, during a press conference held today at TRTI.
Principal Secretary of Tribal Development Department, Mr. Sonmani Bora and Director of Tribal Research and Training Institute, Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam told in the press conference that ‘Aadi Parb-2026’ is being organized on the vision and direction of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai. He told that under the guidance of Tribal Development Minister Mr. Ramvichar Netam, the department is continuously working to make this event a success.
Principal Secretary Mr. Bora told that along with 43 tribes of Chhattisgarh, tribal communities of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand will also participate in this two-day event. The objective of the event is to promote tribal identity, preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of traditional knowledge.
- For the first time, costumes of 43 tribes will be seen on one stage.

Principal Secretary Mr. Bora informed that under this program, the “Aadi-Paridhaan Tribal Attire Show” will be organized on March 13th from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm and on March 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In this event, the traditional costumes and cultural features of 43 tribal communities of the state will be displayed on a single platform for the first time. These costumes, made from natural dyes, local resources and handmade fabrics, will give the message of tribal lifestyle and co-existence with nature. 120 participants have registered online to participate in this event.
- The message of water, forest and land through painting in ‘Aadi Rang’
Principal Secretary Mr. Bora informed the press conference that “Aadi Rang – Tribal Painting Festival” will also be held as part of Aadi Parb. In this festival, tribal artists will present water, forest, and land conservation, tribal life philosophy, and environmental challenges through their traditional paintings. 155 participants have registered online for this program. The painting competition will be held in two categories: 18-30 years and over 30 years of age.
The first prize in both categories will be ₹20,000, the second prize ₹15,000, and the third prize ₹10,000. Additionally, a consolation prize of ₹2,000 will be awarded to 10 participants in each age group.
- Tribal handicrafts and traditional cuisine will be available at Adi-Haat.
Mr. Bora stated that the “Aadi-Haat Tribal Crafts Fair” will also be held during the event, showcasing and selling tribal handicrafts, forest produce, and traditional products from Chhattisgarh. Fourteen groups will set up stalls showcasing handicrafts and traditional cuisine, allowing visitors to enjoy the state’s traditional flavors.
- Tribal youth selected in UPSC will be honored
Principal Secretary Mr. Bora stated that during the program, Mr. Diamond Singh Dhruv and Mr. Ankit Sakni, candidates from the Scheduled Tribe category selected from Chhattisgarh in the Union Public Service Commission Examination 2025 with the support of the Tribal Development Department, will be honored. Laptops will also be distributed to students of the Prayas Institute under departmental schemes on this occasion.
