On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, MATS School of Fashion Designing & Technology organized the Khadi Fashion show on 1st October 2024. The event was a testament to India’s rich textile heritage, brought together designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts to celebrate the versatility and beauty of Khadi fabric. The runway was transformed into a canvas of colors and textures as models graced the stage in stunning Khadi ensembles. The ceremony was held at MATS University, Raipur with presence of many distinguished guests.
The program was inaugurated by the chief guest Vice President Dr. Poulomi Banarjee and Vice President ABIS export India Pvt. Limited with lamp lighting in front of the idol of Maa Saraswati. The program was consecrated by the presence of Chancellor of MATS University Shri Gajraj Pagaria, Director General Shri Priyesh Pagaria, Vice Chancellor Prof. K. P. Yadav, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Deepika Dhand, Registrar Shri Gokulananda Panda, and Head of Department Mrs. Parvinder Kaur. All the guests appreciated the efforts of MATS University, motivated the students about the career prospects in fashion designing and described the event as commendable.
The students of the MATS School of Fashion Designing & Technology participated and displayed their mesmerizing designs. Beyond the fashion, the event was a celebration of Indian culture and eco-friendly fashion with the traditional Chopa dress of Sikkim. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of traditional music and designer outfits through rounds themed tradition meets modernity, Indian folk hand painted outfits. Beyond its role as a nationalistic emblem, Khadi’s significance extends to international levels in which students also designed outfit depicting Egyptian theme with touch of western style. In contemporary India, Khadi has become a symbol of status and class. High-end fashion brands incorporate Khadi into their collections, making it a desirable and luxury item. The Khadi fashion show was a resounding success, showcasing the beauty, versatility, and sustainability of this iconic fabric. As the world embraces sustainable and ethical fashion, Khadi continues to shine as a symbol of timeless elegance and cultural pride.
The program was concluded by Registrar sir / Dean Academics Dr. Vijay Bhushan with vote of thanks. Heads of various departments, students and dignitaries of all departments of MATS University were present in this occasion.
