- Governor and Chief Minister attend Police Commemoration Day Parade
Governor Shri Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended a parade programme organized at the Fourth Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Mana Raipur today to mark Police Commemoration Day. On behalf of the people of the state, they paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Shaheed Smarak. The Governor and Chief Minister also met with the families of police officers and soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation, expressing their condolences and assuring them of continued support. They presented the families with shawls, shriphal, and mementos.
In his tribute address, Governor Shri Deka stressed the critical role of the police, stating, “The work of the police carries immense responsibility. I urge the general public to adopt a humane attitude towards police personnel and assist them in their duties. While they operate under government directives to maintain law and order, it is also their responsibility to ensure that citizens face no inconvenience. Police personnel often work away from their families; it is essential to treat them like family members and show them respect. Kind words can lead to positive changes in their demeanor, alleviating their worries and motivating them to perform their duties with renewed enthusiasm.”
He noted that in a state like Chhattisgarh, where the Naxalite issue poses a significant challenge, the courage, patience, and dedication displayed by our police in tackling this problem is commendable. Thanks to the prompt actions and commitment of the police, there is now a positive change in security and peace in Naxal-affected areas. To combat Naxalite activities, the police and armed forces have implemented strict strategies while also establishing better coordination and communication with local communities. As a result, trust and security have increased in these regions, paving the way for the complete eradication of the Naxalite problem in the future.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated in his address, “Today is a day to honor the contributions of our police and security forces and to salute their commitment. Police Commemoration Day serves as a reminder of the valor, sacrifice, patriotism, and vigilance of our police personnel. Thanks to their efforts, law and order is maintained across the country, paving the way for new avenues of development. They are playing a crucial role in the development of Naxal-affected areas and in ensuring that government schemes reach even the most remote regions.”
He further stated that the Government of India is fully supporting our efforts to provide maximum resources and facilities to police and security personnel in the state. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the fight against Naxalism in Chhattisgarh is gaining significant momentum. The state has set an ambitious target of completely eradicating Naxalism within the next two years. “I am confident that with the valor, courage, and skill of our police and security personnel, we will achieve this goal within the specified timeframe,” he said.
Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja also addressed the gathering, stating that the police are always prepared to prevent crime and apprehend criminals. He asserted that the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers will never be forgotten.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, Shri Arun Dev Gautam, Director General of Home Guard, Civil Defense, and Fire Services, and Shri Himanshu Gupta, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, were also present, along with senior police officials, policemen, and the families of the fallen soldiers.
