This annual lecture is organized by the University in memory of Swami Vivekananda, who has a deep historical connection with Raipur and whose birth anniversary is celebrated across the country as National Youth Day .
In his inaugural address, HNLU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan praised the Chief Guest, saying, “At a time when success is often measured by the number of followers, Mr. O.P. Choudhary reminds us that true leadership is measured by service.” He also said that even 123 years after Swami Vivekananda’s demise, his thoughts and teachings remain a source of inspiration and guidance for Gen-Z.
The keynote speaker, Honorable Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary , addressed the packed auditorium of students and faculty with a powerful lecture on “Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings and Message for Gen-Z .” In his speech, he explained that Swami Vivekananda’s short but profoundly meaningful life continues to inspire generations of youth. Swamiji’s powerful opening immediately captured global attention—a timeless lesson in communication, leadership, and inspiration for today’s youth.

Describing Swami Vivekananda as a true ambassador of Indian culture and values, the Honorable Minister said that at a very young age, he established India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage on the global stage. Emphasizing the ideals of simple living and high thinking, he urged Gen-Z students to step out of their comfort zones, prioritize courage over laziness, and pursue their true passion with discipline, dedication, and honesty. He underscored the importance of a healthy and disciplined life, saying that health is real wealth .
Sharing his inspiring journey—from studying in government institutions to becoming one of the youngest IAS officers in the country, the first IAS officer from Chhattisgarh, and then making the bold decision to enter public life through the civil services—Mr. Choudhary inspired students to embrace challenging paths beyond the conventional path with confidence and courage. He said that meaningful success is often achieved outside the comfort zone.
