IIIT-NR Celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas

‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ was commemorated with great enthusiasm and reverence at the
International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur, on July 26, 2024.
The event, organized to honour the heroes of the Kargil War, saw the presence of
esteemed guests Mr. Desh Deepak Singh, Secretary of Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir
Study Center, and Mr. Vinod Agrawal, the Treasurer, as the Chief Guests.
The celebration commenced with a warm welcome extended to the guests by
Registrar Dr. Chandra Shekhar Verma and Dean of Academics Prof. Srinivasa K.G.
The event also featured the felicitation of retired Army, Navy and Airforce personnel,
recognizing their invaluable service to the nation.
Mr. Desh Deepak Singh delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the significance
of Vijay Diwas and the valour of the soldiers who fought in the Kargil War. He
emphasized the importance of remembering and honouring their sacrifices. Prof.
Srinivasa K.G. encouraged students to remember the national heroes’ contributions,
urging them to draw inspiration from the past to build a better future. Dr. Rajarshi
Mahapatra, HoD (ECE), provided insightful examples of how historical events can be
integrated into today’s technological era, making history relevant and inspiring for the
students. Dr. Manoj Kumar Majumder, President of the Student Activity Center,
motivated the students with his thought-provoking address, urging them to strive for
excellence and honour the legacy of the Kargil heroes in their endeavours.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Lakhindar Murmu, NSS Program
Officer, who expressed gratitude to all the guests, faculty members, and students for
their participation and support in making the event a success. The Kargil Vijay Diwas
celebration at IIIT Naya Raipur was a poignant reminder of the bravery and
dedication of the soldiers, inspiring the young minds to carry forward the spirit of
patriotism and service to the nation.”
