IIIT-NR Hosts Workshop on Cybersecurity Awareness

The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur hosted an
impactful workshop titled ‘Empowering Entrepreneurs: Cyber and Network Security
Awareness for Threat Prevention’, from February 17 to February 21, 2025, which
was sponsored by MSME, Govt. of India. The workshop aimed to equip
entrepreneurs, academicians, and students with the necessary knowledge and tools
to tackle emerging cybersecurity threats effectively. The workshop was graced by
eminent experts from premier institutions such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs, ensuring a
high level of discourse on cyber and network security.
The inauguration session was held on February 17, 2025, in which the Chief Guest
for the event, Prof. Sukumar Nandi from IIT Guwahati, delivered a keynote address,
highlighting the latest advancements and challenges in Cybersecurity. Additionally,
Prof. Yogendra Srivastava from HNLU, Guest of Honor, contributed his valuable
insights on Secure Business Practices in the digital age.
From the second day onwards, the workshop featured insightful discussions on
various aspects of cybersecurity. Prof. Santosh Biswas emphasized the necessity of
smart grid security, focusing on the role of digital meters and the associated security
threats for consumers. Prof. Arup Kumar Pal from IIT Dhanbad delved into image
and video security, while Prof. Subidh Ali highlighted the importance of hardware
security and trust solutions. Prof. Bodhisatwa Majumder from IIT Indore also
contributed valuable insights into hardware security.
Dr. Mou Dasupta addressed critical security concerns in healthcare, and Dr. Sangray
Ray discussed the challenges posed by IoT security attacks. Prof. Ashok Kumar Das
explored blockchain technology and its security aspects. Dr. Ruhul Amin examined
the ongoing digital battle between adversaries and cryptographers, emphasizing how
the knowledge gained from the workshop could be leveraged for entrepreneurship.
On the final day, Prof. Venkanna U presented how AI can enhance IoT security,
while Prof. Goutam Pal explored emerging opportunities in quantum security.
Entrepreneurs, IT professionals, researchers, and students interested in
cybersecurity participated in this workshop, to leverage this opportunity to learn from
the best minds in the field. The workshop included interactive sessions, live
demonstrations, hands-on training, and networking opportunities with industry
leaders and academicians. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Ruhul Amin,
Assistant Professor at IIIT Naya Raipur.
