Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Emperor Vikramaditya’s courage and creativity contributed significantly to enriching Indian culture, setting new standards of valor and organization. The Vikramotsav, centered on Emperor Vikramaditya, should ensure that all facets of his personality are effectively reflected. Introducing the new generation to Emperor Vikramaditya’s contributions is essential for the continuation of Indian knowledge and cultural traditions. Vikramotsav is a powerful symbol of the country and state’s historical heritage and cultural consciousness. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the event be held in accordance with the highest standards of grandeur, orderliness, and cultural dignity. He issued these instructions during a meeting at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s residence) regarding preparations for Vikramotsav 2026 in Ujjain. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the overall outline, arrangements, and departmental coordination in detail. Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Mr. Anupam Rajan, Additional Chief Secretary Culture Mr. Shivshekhar Shukla, and other officials were present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Vikramaditya Mahanritya should be staged in major cities of the state and other states. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that general knowledge competitions centered on Emperor Vikramaditya be organized in schools and colleges. He said that exhibitions and other activities focused on agriculture should be organized during the Vikramotsav being held in Ujjain under the Farmer Welfare Year 2026. Activities focused on promoting natural farming, stubble management, competitions for healthy dairy animals, and horticulture should be included. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that science colleges, engineering, and polytechnic colleges should also be included in events focused on the scientific aspects of Emperor Vikramaditya. Ensuring the participation of the Government of India in the Emperor Vikramaditya Award should give it a grand and national character.
In the meeting, the following information was given about the activities to be held in Ujjain under Vikramotsav 2026-
- February 15, 2026- Shivacharan of the arts of eternal god Shiva, Madhya Pradesh. Inauguration of all Shivratri fairs, Kalash Yatra, inauguration of Vikramotsav-2026, presentation of ShivSham- Pritam and band, Shivnaad.
- Exhibitions- Exhibition on Vikramaditya and Ayodhya, Aarsh Bharat, Weapons, 84 Mahadev, Combination of Tribal Devlok.
- Vikram Trade Fair.
- February 16 to February 20 – Shiva Purana.
- 16 to 25 February – National and international level theatre performances under Vikram Theatre Festival.
- 26 to 28 February – International History Conference, Puppet Festival, International Research Seminar.
- 28th February to 1st March – Vikramaditya’s ideological conference on justice.
- 2 March – All India Poets’ Conference.
- March 7 – Lokranjan – All India Kavi Sammelan on Emperor Vikramaditya in various dialects.
- 10 – 12 March – Anhad ideological gathering on the origin and development of music.
- March 13 – 14 – International Research Symposium.
- 13–17 March – International Festival of Mythological Films screening films from over 20 countries.
- 17-18 March – Indian Science Research Seminar.

- March 19 – Surya Pooja at Ramghat Dutt Akhara on Gudi Padwa.
- Along with this, 19th March, Varsha Pratipada, the day of creation, will be celebrated as Ujjaini Gaurav Diwas. On this occasion, the main program will be held on the banks of the Shipra River, which will include the inauguration of Samrat Vikramaditya decoration and Vikram Panchang 2082-83 and Aarsh Bharat second edition, along with the presentation of Mahadev’s river story-dance drama. Famous playback singer Sonu Nigam will give a musical performance. A grand fireworks display will also be held on this occasion. Vikramotsav will be organized in all the districts of the state on Gudi Padwa.
Principal Secretary, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh, Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office and Managing Director, MP Tourism Development Corporation, Dr. Ilaya Raja T., Commissioner, Public Relations, Shri Deepak Kumar Saxena, and other officials were present at the meeting held at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s residence).
