- Bihan Yojana gives new wings to Janaki, she becomes a successful woman entrepreneur
- With the help of government schemes, Janaki changed the image of herself and her village.
When women are empowered, they can accomplish amazing things. They can pursue education, work in any field, and make decisions for themselves. This not only benefits them but also strengthens families and communities. Inspiring examples of women’s empowerment and self-reliance demonstrate that through education, determination, and economic independence, women can not only transform their own destiny but also revolutionize society.
The success story of Janaki, a resident of Kharra village in the Kurud development block of Dhamtari district, has become an inspiring example of women’s empowerment and self-reliance. Once a simple housewife who supported her family in farming, Janaki has now carved out a niche for herself as a successful businesswoman. Her achievements are due to the guidance she received from the Rural Livelihood Mission’s “Bihan” scheme and her continued hard work.
Janaki joined the Jai Maa Gayatri Women’s Self-Help Group to learn about economic activities. Through the group, she gained awareness about savings, banking, and self-employment opportunities. She then started a textile business with the help of a loan from the Community Investment Fund (CIF). Through hard work and customer trust, her business gradually grew.

Obtaining additional loans through the group’s bank linkage, he expanded his business and opened a fancy store. Subsequently, he opened a shoe shop using a loan under the Mudra scheme. Currently, his business sells clothing, fancy goods, and footwear, generating a substantial monthly income and strengthening his family’s financial situation.
Janaki has not only become self-reliant herself, but has also become a source of inspiration for other women in the village. She plays an active role as the president of the farming group, the village organization (VO), and a BRC member, motivating women towards savings, self-employment, and entrepreneurship. Thanks to her efforts, many women in the village are joining self-help groups and participating in economic activities.
Janaki’s success shows that if women get the right opportunities, training and support, they can not only improve the economic condition of their families but can also become a strong example of positive change in the entire society.
