Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Bharat Ratna Late Lata Mangeshkar’s name shines as an unmatched icon in the world of music. Speaking at an award ceremony in her honor, he observed the unique sight of five generations gathered together to celebrate her legacy. Despite the many challenges and struggles she faced throughout her life, Lata Mangeshkar carved out a distinct identity in music that will be remembered for generations to come. Her resilience, along with the many facets of her life, is deeply reflected in the timeless beauty of her voice.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressing at the National Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony and musical evening in Indore on Saturday, paid tribute to Lata Didi’s immense contribution to music. He noted that she sang melodious songs alongside multiple generations of singers. Dr. Yadav expressed that while we have neither seen nor heard Goddess Saraswati, Lata Didi’s enchanting voice evokes the divine presence of the Goddess of music. Her resilience and life journey offer invaluable lessons, and through her unwavering dedication to music, she achieved unmatched fame. Her songs left an indelible mark on the public, both before and after India’s independence. With her vast repertoire of sweet and diverse songs, she not only created a unique identity but also championed the rights of artists. Lata Didi’s legacy enhanced India’s honor on the global stage.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared a sibling-like bond with Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. He personally attended her funeral procesion in honor of their relationship. He added that by performing at the House of Commons, Lata Didi and Sushri. K.S. Chitra brought great pride to India.

Dr. Yadav expressed his pride in honoring the distinguished music director Shri Uttam Singh and Padma Shri recipient playback singer Sushri K.S. Chitra for their contributions to music with the National Lata Mangeshkar Award. Dr. Yadav also emphasized that the Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony should be organized annually.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav presented the National Lata Mangeshkar Award to music director Shri Uttam Singh for the year 2022 and playback singer Sushri K.S. Chitra for the year 2023. He honored Shri Singh and Sushri Chitra with a shawl, citation and a cheque of 2 lakh rupees as part of the award.

The main event of the National Lata Mangeshkar Award ceremony and musical evening took place at the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Indore. The state’s Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Religious Trusts, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, presented the event’s outline. Union Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development, Smt Savitri Thakur, Water Resources Minister, Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Member of Parliament Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargava, and special guest local legislators Shri Ramesh Mendola, Smt Malini Gaur, Sushri. Usha Thakur, Shri Golu Shukla, and Shri Gaurav Randive were present at the event. Among those in attendance were Divisional Commissioner Shri Deepak Singh, Police Commissioner Shri Rakesh Gupta, Collector Shri Ashish Singh, and a large audience.
