Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government is making continuous efforts to connect farmers with advanced agricultural techniques and provide them with the benefits of central and state government schemes. In this regard, through the National Horticulture Mission Scheme, farmers are being encouraged to adopt modern horticultural practices, which is significantly increasing their income.

Mr. Sunil Bhagat, a farmer from Tempu Gram Panchayat in the Manora development block of Jashpur district, has achieved success by cultivating advanced tomato crops under the guidance of the Horticulture Department. Following departmental advice, he planted the GK indigenous tomato variety, yielding approximately 9 tons per acre.

Farmer Mr. Bhagat explained that he cultivates seasonal vegetable crops. This season, he sold tomatoes worth approximately ₹85,500. After deducting all input costs, he earned a net profit of ₹55,500. He is also taking advantage of other departmental schemes and is now moving towards adopting advanced technologies such as drip irrigation and mulching.

Mr. Sunil Bhagat’s success has inspired farmers in the Gram Panchayat, including those in Tempu, and surrounding villages. Many farmers are now coming forward to adopt advanced agricultural techniques and participate in departmental schemes to achieve higher production and better income at lower costs.
