The “Niyad Nellanar” (Your Good Village) scheme, launched at the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai to rejuvenate the Naxal-affected areas of the Bastar division, is now yielding meaningful results on the ground. Since the opening of the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in the remote village of Palanar in Bijapur district on January 28, 2026, hundreds of villagers have been provided with quality healthcare facilities near their homes.
- Record OPD and indoor facilities
The health awareness in Palanar and surrounding villages can be gauged by the fact that in this short period, a total of 747 patients have availed of OPD services. Additionally, 16 patients were admitted as needed and successfully treated. Villagers who previously had to walk miles for even minor ailments are now able to access specialist consultations and free medicines locally.
- Maternal and Child Health
- Safe Delivery and Quick Services
To promote institutional delivery in vulnerable areas, the center has conducted five safe deliveries so far. In line with the government’s vision, birth certificates were also issued to newborns to enable citizens to access benefits under government schemes. Additionally, regular health checkups and vaccinations have been ensured for 15 pregnant women (ANC) and 18 lactating mothers (PNC) in the area.

- Early detection of serious diseases (NCD screening)
Under the scheme, special attention is being paid to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). So far, 250 villagers have been screened at the Palanar center, including
Twenty-five patients were found to be suffering from hypertension.
Twelve patients were found to be suffering from diabetes.
One villager was immediately referred to a higher medical center after symptoms of breast cancer were found.
The success of the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Palanar demonstrates that government initiatives are now reaching the last person. This has not only improved healthcare facilities but also strengthened villagers’ trust in the administration.
