Enhanced Facilities for Safe Institutional Deliveries of Pregnant Women – Health Minister Shri Jaiswal
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, continuous improvements are being made in healthcare facilities and resources. Efforts to enhance the healthcare system are ongoing under the directives of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. As part of these efforts, special attention is being given to healthcare facilities in Balodabazar under the supervision of Collector Shri Deepak Soni. From January 2024 to September, a total of 1,816 successful deliveries have been carried out at the Balodabazar District Hospital. These include 1,354 normal deliveries and 462 cesarean sections, comprising both emergency and planned procedures.
Dr. K.K. Tembhurane, Civil Surgeon at Balodabazar District Hospital, stated that the hospital is equipped with three obstetricians and a well-trained nursing staff. The facility features a modern delivery room and a dedicated Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for neonatal care post-delivery. Out of the total deliveries, 161 newborns required specialized care in the SNCU.
Nohar Patel from village Khaira recounted his experience in September when he brought his 23-year-old wife to the district hospital due to labor pain. He was informed that there was a case of fetal distress, which involves difficulty in oxygen reaching the fetus, leading to an increased heart rate. A cesarean section was performed, ensuring the safety of both mother and child. Similarly, Mahendra Paikara from village Khosra near Giroudpuri, shared that his 28-year-old wife had been experiencing prolonged labor. He brought her to the district hospital, where a cesarean delivery was carried out. He expressed relief as the medications and other services were provided free of cost, saving them significant expenses compared to a private hospital.
According to Dr. Rajesh Kumar Awasthi, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Balodabazar, the district hospital is certified by the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). This certification was awarded following a national-level evaluation for providing high-quality services. Continuous efforts are underway to further enhance the delivery facilities, ensuring that the general public can benefit from improved healthcare services.
