 Preparations for National Tribal Games in full swing

Preparations are in full swing for the Khelo India National Tribal Games, being hosted by Chhattisgarh for the first time in the country. It is being organized from March 25th to April 3rd in three cities of the state – Raipur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur. To give all the arrangements an international standard, preparations are underway on a war footing in all three cities. Deputy Chief Minister and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Arun Saw today held a meeting with senior departmental officials and reviewed the preparations for the event.

In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw conducted a detailed review of all the arrangements in the grounds for the sports included in the Khelo India National Tribal Games – athletics, archery, hockey, football, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling and two demo games – Mallakhamb and Kabaddi. He also reviewed the preparations related to accommodation, transportation and food for the players coming from different states to participate in the event and gave necessary instructions. He asked to ensure accommodation arrangements as per the standards and quality food. 

Mr. Saw instructed all athletes to ensure good health facilities, injury management, medical kits at the venues, and adequate doctors. He reviewed the installation of sports equipment at all venues, the opening and closing ceremonies, and the publicity and public participation activities for the entire event and issued necessary instructions. 

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Saw asked all the officials associated with the event to discharge their duties with activeness, seriousness and dedication. He directed to complete all the preparations related to the event on time along with making all the necessary arrangements for the players coming from all over the country to participate in the Tribal Games. 3000 players from 32 states will participate in the ten-day long Khelo India National Tribal Games. Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Director Mrs. Tanuja Salam and Deputy Director Mrs. Rashmi Thakur along with various agencies and departmental officials related to the event were present in the meeting.
