- New impetus to Rajnandgaon’s development: Groundbreaking ceremony for development projects worth over Rs 226 crore, including a 2,000-seater state-of-the-art auditorium
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today virtually participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for various development works of the Municipal Corporation of Rajnandgaon from the Chief Minister’s residence office in Nava Raipur. On this occasion, he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for various development works costing more than Rs 226 crore. Congratulating the people of Rajnandgaon, he said that this groundbreaking ceremony is not just the beginning of development works, but also a strong foundation for the city’s bright future.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government, with the motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” is continuously working towards the balanced and inclusive development of the state. Rajnandgaon plays a crucial role in building a developed Chhattisgarh, furthering the resolve for a developed India. He stated that expanding civic amenities in line with the city’s growing population is among the government’s priorities, and through these projects, the goal is to bring the rays of development to every ward of the city.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under AMRUT Mission 2.0, two new sewerage treatment plants will be established in the city for scientific treatment of domestic wastewater. This will prevent dirty water from flowing directly into rivers and drains, protecting the environment as well as the health of citizens. He said that under the Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme, roads are being widened and beautified, which will facilitate smooth traffic flow and boost business activities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that a large, 2,000-seater, state-of-the-art auditorium will be built in Rajnandgaon, providing a new platform for the arts, literature, and cultural activities of the cultural capital. This will provide ample opportunities for local artists, writers, and youth to showcase their talents. He stated that this auditorium will create a new identity for the city. He also stated that special budget provisions have been made for the development of Transport Nagar, construction of drains, pipeline expansion, and strengthening of basic amenities in the city’s 51 wards.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that new plants are being established to strengthen waste management under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Our goal is to ensure that Rajnandgaon not only participates in the Swachh Bharat Survey but also establishes itself among the leading clean cities in the country. He said that delivering the benefits of resources directly to the public is a priority of the government, and for this purpose, the pace of development work has been accelerated.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh and the support of local public representatives, Rajnandgaon is progressing rapidly. His vision and public participation are developing the city as a model city for Chhattisgarh. He also assured the speedy approval of pending infrastructure proposals related to the district’s development.
Addressing the program, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said that Rajnandgaon is very close to his heart and today marks an important milestone in the city’s development. Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister, he explained that a provision of ₹1,000 crore has been made for the overall development of Rajnandgaon district in the Sankalp Budget 2026-27. Dr. Singh also stated that plans worth ₹250 crore have been approved for the conservation, enhancement, and development of the Shivnath River. Furthermore, numerous development projects have been proposed through various departments, including ₹20 crore for the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, ₹20 crore for the School Education Department, ₹60 crore under the Urban Administration Department, and approximately ₹200 crore through the Public Works Department.
He informed that for the development of sports facilities, a provision of Rs 8 crore 80 lakh has been made for construction of turf and other facilities in the hockey stadium and Rs 6 crore for strengthening the sports infrastructure in Digvijay Stadium, which will provide better sports facilities to the youth.
Minister in charge of Rajnandgaon district Shri Gajendra Yadav, MP Shri Santosh Pandey, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Building and Construction Workers Board Dr. Rampratap Singh and Mayor Shri Madhusudan Yadav along with other public representatives were present in the program.
It is noteworthy that the projects approved during the groundbreaking ceremony include the construction of a sewerage treatment plant, road widening and upgrading, a 2,000-seater auditorium, drain construction, pipeline expansion, Transport City upgrade, waste management plant installation, and sanitation-related works. These projects will significantly expand infrastructure in Rajnandgaon’s 51 wards and accelerate the city’s overall development.
