Self-help groups are provided with low-interest loans and skill development opportunities, enabling women to undertake small-scale livelihood activities (such as farming, animal husbandry, sewing, and Aadhaar-linked services). Empowered women under this mission are not only increasing their family incomes but also becoming socially empowered by becoming self-reliant.
The government and administration are continuously striving to empower women in rural areas and integrate them into the mainstream of society. When women receive the right opportunities, resources, and guidance, they not only transform their own lives but also play a vital role in the development of society as a whole. The story of Mrs. Sangeeta Singh, a resident of Dudhashi village in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, is another inspiring example of women’s empowerment. She has carved a new identity for herself through her hard work and self-confidence.
- The journey began as a BC Sakhi

Sangeeta Singh began her work as a BC Sakhi in 2021. Through her, villagers began to benefit from banking services. Previously, villagers had to travel to distant cities or block headquarters to withdraw money or perform banking tasks, but now these services are available within the village itself. This has saved villagers both time and money and provided significant convenience.
- Self-help group provides financial strength
Sangeeta Singh explains that she took a loan of 68,000 rupees from her self-help group under the Bihan Yojana. With this financial support, she began her work as a BC Sakhi. Initially, she faced many challenges, but through her hard work, dedication, and spirit of service, she gradually won the trust of the villagers. Today, villagers confidently approach her for banking services.
- Received base kit for excellent work
Recognizing Sangeeta Singh’s dedication and excellent performance, the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district administration decided to give her new responsibilities. Five new Aadhaar centers are being opened in the district to expand Aadhaar services in tribal and remote areas. As part of this initiative, Sangeeta Singh was provided with an Aadhaar kit along with a laptop. EDM Shri Narayan Kevart, on behalf of the district administration, handed her the Aadhaar kit.
- Now Aadhaar services will be available in the village itself
After receiving the Aadhaar kit, Sangeeta Singh will now be able to provide Aadhaar-related services to people in her village and surrounding areas. These include new Aadhaar registrations, Aadhaar updates, and other essential tasks. This will eliminate the need for villagers to travel to the city or block headquarters for even minor services, and they will be able to access services near their villages.
- An inspiration to other women

Sangeeta Singh’s success story has become a source of inspiration for women across the region. Her hard work and self-reliance demonstrate that if women are given opportunities and support, they can bring about positive change in society. Her achievement also proves that women can play a vital role in the development of not only their families but also society as a whole.
- Strong steps towards women empowerment
This initiative by the district administration is promoting women’s empowerment and strengthening access to digital services in rural areas. Women like Sangeeta Singh are writing a new story of change in rural India today. Their success sends the message that with confidence, hard work, and the right opportunity, any woman can achieve her dreams. The Bihan scheme aims to promote poverty reduction by building strong institutions for the poor, especially women, and providing them access to a wide range of financial and livelihood services.
