Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Lakhanpur, Receives New School Bus—Another Initiative by Adani Foundation to Boost Educational Improvement Efforts

A special ceremony was held on Friday at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Lakhanpur, Surguja district. During the event, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) provided the school with a new 20-seater bus. The aim is to ensure safe and convenient travel for 82 children from 11 nearby villages, including Bharatpur, Ganeshpur, Jhunwara Para, Kosanga, and others.

The bus was inaugurated and handed over by the chief guest, RRVUNL’s Additional Chief Engineer, Babu Lal Verma, who cut the ribbon and presented the necessary bus documents to the school principal, Mrs. Madhu Pandey. The event was attended by RRVUNL’s Deputy Chief Engineer Lalchand Baresah, Adani Enterprises’ Surguja Cluster HR Head Ram Dwivedi, Land Department Head Rajesh Saw, Adani Foundation Surguja’s Head Ashok Panda, and Amit Rai. Also present were District Panchayat member and administrator Vijay Agrawal, Nagar Panchayat President representative Dinesh Sahu, Nagar Panchayat Vice President Sunny Bansal, Ward Councillor Rakesh Sahu, Saraswati Shishu Mandir President Ashish Mangal, Sunil Agrawal, Saurabh Agrawal, school teachers, and a large number of students.

The school bus was purchased for approximately ₹20 lakh by the Adani Foundation under the social responsibility initiative of RRVUNL’s Parsa East Kete Basan (PEKB) mine, in consultation with local MLA Rajesh Agrawal.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Babu Lal Verma said, “RRVUNL is committed to the development of the region. I hope this bus will provide a safe and reliable means of transportation for students coming from nearby rural areas.” At the end of the program, the school management expressed gratitude to RRVUNL and the Adani Foundation.

As part of RRVUNL’s series of infrastructure development initiatives in the area, key needs of 14 nearby villages have been addressed, including repairs and painting in government schools, construction of additional classrooms and permanent toilets, village road construction, and renovation and beautification of passenger waiting areas. Additionally, to promote environmental sustainability, over 1.5 million trees have been planted across more than 450 hectares of reclaimed mined land.
