SHG Didi found a new direction in life through mushroom cultivation.

Jagriti Sahu, who resides in the small village of Matwari in Durg district, has a story filled with inspiration. Despite being well-educated, she obtained postgraduate and B.Ed. degrees in two subjects. Since childhood, Jagriti had dreamt of becoming a teacher, but fate had something else in store for her. Due to some reason, she was unable to fulfill this dream, which left her disappointed. Jagriti’s husband, Mr. Chandan Sahu, reveals that not being able to become a teacher brought about significant changes in Jagriti’s behavior. She used to speak very little due to her disappointment. He says, “At that time, I thought that maybe engaging in some work might divert her mind. My daughter and I both loved mushrooms, so I suggested mushroom cultivation to her. Due to her daughter’s preference, Jagriti started this work. Starting with a small preference of her daughter, the work gradually led Jagriti to great heights.”

Jagriti took up the challenge of mushroom cultivation with determination and dedication. She attended training sessions, learned the techniques, and invested her time and effort into the venture. Slowly but steadily, she began to see success in her new endeavor. Her mushrooms were of high quality and in demand in the local market.

As Jagriti’s mushroom business grew, so did her confidence and self-esteem. She found a new sense of purpose and fulfillment in her work. She was no longer the disappointed dreamer she once was, but a successful entrepreneur who had found her calling in life.
