Minister Shri Agrawal has directed the Directorate of Archaeology, Archives and Museums to conduct a quick site inspection and detailed survey of the ancient statues and other archaeological remains available in the Navagarh area through an expert team.
Minister Shri Agarwal stated that the discovery of ancient statues and other remains dating back to the 5th-6th centuries AD in the Navagarh area has made a scientific study of the site extremely necessary. He directed officials to have an expert team conduct a detailed study of all the statues, architectural remains, artifacts, and potential archaeological sites in the area, and to document them in detail, so that the historical significance of these heritage sites can be properly assessed.
Minister Shri Agarwal said that based on the reports received from the survey and site inspection, necessary work will be initiated to preserve, enhance, and protect these archaeological remains as needed. If the site’s historical significance is proven, initiatives will also be taken to develop it as a protected archaeological site.
He said that Chhattisgarh is rich in ancient civilizations, architecture, and rich cultural traditions. Many regions of the state have important sites that require systematic study and preservation. The state government is continuously making efforts to identify, preserve, and scientifically study these heritage sites.
Minister Shri Agarwal stated that the participation of local public representatives, researchers, historians, and ordinary citizens is crucial to preserving the state’s historical heritage. He added that preserving these heritage sites is not only an effort to preserve the past, but also an important means of connecting future generations to their cultural roots and history.
He also said that the state government is trying to develop historical sites and archaeological heritage not only for conservation but also from the point of view of study, research and cultural tourism, so that the rich cultural heritage of the state gets wider recognition and new opportunities for tourism and employment can also be created at the local level.
